Thursday, October 8th, marks the return of two explosive fighters to their native city, Tijuana. Omar and Jose Estrella will return to Tijuana, Mexico, after nearly twelve months not of fighting in their hometown. The stage for the return will be an outstanding one as they will appear on the under card of Jackie Nava vs. Soledad Matthysse. The Zanfer Promotions fight card will take place at the Tijuana Municipal Auditorium and will be transmitted live in Mexico by Canal Azteca.

Super featherweight Omar Estrella (14-3-2, 9KOs), the older of the Estrellas, will take on Victor Ezequiel Corvalan (7-17-5, 2KOs) of Argentina in an eight round bout. In his last bout held in Tijuana last December, Omar stopped David Martin Galindo in four rounds. In his last outing, Omar was awarded the TKO victory when Ensenada, Mexico’s Sergio “Mikey” Lopez did not come out after the sixth round in their scheduled ten rounder in Mazatlan, Mexico, last May.

Appearing in the same fight card, super flyweight Jose Estrella (9-2-1, 8KOs) is scheduled for a bantamweight six rounder versus the always dangerous TBA. His last performance in Tijuana was at the same venue, the Municipal Auditorium, where after eight hard battled rounds, Jose stopped in the last seconds of the fight by the much bigger Luis “Chupacabras” Gomez. Jose Estrella was able to control the first half the fight but once his nose was bloodied, Gomez’s size was too much and Jose was stopped with ten seconds to go in the battle. Since that loss, Jose has gotten back in the win column with three spectacular knock outs. The last one in July of this year in Mazatlan, Jose found himself on the canvas in the first round but came back to knock out the previously undefeated Juan Jimenez in the third.

“We are very happy to be back in Tijuana and fight in front our friends and family,” twenty-four year old Omar stated. “We would like to thank our promoter Box Latino for getting us these fights and the opportunity to appear in Tijuana.”

Jose also had some thoughts on his next fight,” I am ready for a tough opponent. I don’t know if this will be the fight where I will get that type of opponent but I am anxious to show my skills and what better city to do that but in Tijuana.”
