Antonio Margarito will be getting full medical clearance to resume training as he prepares for his rematch against Miguel Cotto on December 3 at the Madison Square Garden in New York.

Miguel Cotto was suppose to get a shot at Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., but Bob Arum said there are three opponents under consideration for Chavez’s next fight: European champion Darren Barker of England, former “Contender” participant Peter Manfredo Jr. of Providence, R.I., and Marco Antonio Rubio.

“I think we’ll try to do Chavez against (junior middleweight titlist) Miguel Cotto next spring in a big pay-per-view, but in the meantime we’re looking at those guys for Chavez in the fall,” Arum said.

    Don’t feel bad, we all hope mexicanmafia grows up fast before his ignorance gets him in trouble. Mexicanmafia I hope you don’t think that your ppl are the only ones to come to this country and have it rough. Racism is part of the world but it doesnt have to be part of your world, streets smarts are valuable but only if you use them to get you away from all the negativity. Take it from an ex street kid.

    Now on Margarito, you should be happy he’s still boxing period. If he would’ve been caught after the fight he’d be gone for good. There isnt anything to discuss here margarito tried to cheat and there’s no defending him, trying to do so just makes you look bad. If he cheated against Cotto we will probably never know. People are intitled to their opinion, maybe he did and maybe he did’nt. I think he cheated, that fight looked strange to me even as I was watching it. Thats just my opinion, but I believe he cheated. Thats the last I’ll say on the matter cuz its over and done with, at least it will be when Cotto beats him hahaha lol. GO COTTO, Cotto, Cotto, Cotto, Cotto. later fellas

  2. MexicanMafia2010; I just had to let you know that I watched the video you posted. And case closed. Is that your proof that Margarito is innocent, a victim of the media, — the size of that pad ? You really just proved that you know absolutely nothing about professional boxing, period. And trying to explain to you why those wraps could be potentially deadly , well, you just wouldn’t want to understand anyway. I think what you actually enjoyed about that video was all the angry idiot foul language, that really solves problems, huh ? Sadly, I think that you have a long tough life ahead of you. Good luck.

I teach for one of my local school districts, and as a teacher I can assure you that reading could actually help you understand everything better, and help you to become more literate. But with your attitude I’d doubt that you seldom listen to any good advise. Oh, but I am pleased that you’ve decided that you’re not going to post me any longer, that will save me the time having to explain things to you with those scary “big paragraphs”. Do try and remember (if this wasn’t too much reading) that you brought this on yourself with your bigoted accusations. Try thinking before writing. I’ve been through this a lot of times. but people seem to go with the media band wagon ( besides cotto fans)… Did they ever show the pad besides the news article from the commission hearing? ofcourse not. But this is the last message I’m gonna post at you donald, because talking to a sheep is talking to a person without a brain!

    Just seeing that big paragraph makes me not want to read it, but whatever you wrote. I’m sure you never saw the actual pad, during the court date you only read the news called “plaster” like substance! and made the assumption it was actual plaster but if you had seen the pad you would know that looked like a regular gause pad and not thick enough to cause any damage even if it was plaster. where are the damaged knuckles of margarito punching with it???? look at the picture on the top of this article!.

  8. Now that the gloves are not loaded you will see a different out come. The out come that should have taken place in their first match. Cotto was dominating the first few rounds until Margarito’s wrap had harden becoming a brink.
    You can see it in Margarito’s last few fights that he has no punching power. He ruined Cotto, Kermit Cintron and all fighters he fought. They have not been the same physically and mentally ever since. Even though they still can fight and put on a good show. We shall see what happens on December.

  9. Mexican Mafia 2010; On the subject of Margarito,= no, he does not deserve the benefit of the doubt, as there is no doubt involved. If you had any real knowledge of boxing you’d thoroughly understand that any professional fighter would have to be in a coma to not know what was being put onto his fist. And to lie about it show’s a character flaw and complete lack of regard for his fellow athletes. I am glad to hear that you “used to be” a gang member, but with your earlier statement about “haters and racist” , and now this “Cotto fans lol racist” stuff, you don’t appear to have lost the gang member mentality. To answer your question “do I identify myself with one of those”, the answer should have been logically apparent in my first response to you, but since you’re having problems understanding that ethnic origins should never be an issue, then would a simple “no” be sufficient for you to understand ? And yes Mafia 2010, the idea of referring to someone being a racist does “get to me”, especially when the person doing the accusing is obviously the one tainted with the problem. And it should “get to” everyone that is concerned for the future of our country, we’ve lived too long with the hatred that racial conflict has caused. The USA “is” about diverse opinions, but racism is not an opinion, it’s a sickness. Oh, and concerning how much more “dangerous” it is to be a gang member than to get into a ring and compete? I don’t know your age, I would assume from your statements that you’re a young man, I just turned 62 years of age, I’ve been around boxing and gyms mainly as a love and hobby since I was teenager, and regarding danger I’ve seen quite-a-lot during my lifetime. It might make someone feel tough and “dangerous” to be a gang member, but real toughness and courage are tested inside a ring. Inside a boxing ring you’re basically on your own, there isn’t another gang member to cover your back. Give it a try sometime, and let us know how “dangerous” it felt. In the meantime you really should refrain from the racial remarks, you’re making a fool out of yourself.

  10. U sure took your two to three days to wite this. haters = cottos fans lol racists = margarito drew more people than the lakers did at the mosley fight. Do you identify yourself with one of those? Did you forget they tried to compare him with luis resto when they are two different things? he knew margarito didnt? Now hold it, you and i werent there to see what happend, dont you thing he deserved the benefit of the doubt? Now i havent done boxing but used to be a gang member which i think can be more dangerous that, and where did that come from? Dont let it get to you, i was just giving my the opposite side of the story, which is what the “U.S.A.” is all about right?

  11. To MexicanMafia2010; How did the words “haters and racist” enter into the discussion ? Do you think that because someone feels a professional fighter should be banned for purposely loading their gloves, (which in-fact could actually kill another boxer) is a “racist” if that someone is not of the same ethnic group as the athlete that committed the crime ?! Have you yourself ever done any ring fighting, amateur or professional ? Have you ever worked with or trained amateur or professional boxers ? I have done all of the above, and the strongest concern I have ever had is for the safety of the athletes. If you’re so concerned that others are “haters and racist” if for some reason they speak-out against an athlete that happens to be of your own ethnic background, then I certainly hope that you never have any involvement , other than a fan, in the fight game. Boxing is a serious and dangerous business, and when the matter of race rears it’s ugly head it does nothing but scar the sport. Before you call people “haters and racist”, people that you’ve never met and know nothing about, you should first do some soul searching. Leave bigotry out of the discussions.

  12. I am not interested in seeing fight .I really do not like Cotto’s style because he throws limited punches and the he moves totally ponderous .
    I gotta admit that I was disappointed by Margarito’s performance against Manny .

  13. I too think Margarito should have been banned from boxing but whats done is done. I really think its sad that he felt he needed to cheat in the first place. I believe he used the wraps in the first fight with Cotto, I dont understand why though. Margarito had a very good chance to win the fight anyway. Cotto may or may not be the same, I personaly think his corner let him down in both of his loses. Margarito also may or may not be the same after the beatings he took from mosely and Pacman. We will have to wait and wait and wait to see. I think its going to be a brutal fight no matter what, and both men will be on a mission. I think Cotto should try to avenge both loses to tell the truth.

  14. On another note Margarito served his one year suspension without fighting outside the U.S even when he was offered to fight by bob arum.
    I’m just tryin to show the good side of margarito since all these haters and racists try to put a bad image of him.

    The trainer did get banned from the U.S
    And margarito has only fought twice with his new trainer Robert Garcia my reason why je has looked bad in the past two fights besides the weight class.
    I agree cotto is a gentleman and a good hard good working man but so is margarito and will be rooting for him 100%, even tho sounds like margaritos last fight since he had that teared retina.

  16. Cotto has not been the same fighter since the brutal beating he took in their last outing. Margarito has looked even worse since he hasn’t been able to load-up his gloves any longer. Does anyone really logically believe that the Mosley fight was the only time that he and his trainer had pulled that potentially deadly stunt?! Margarito doesn’t deserve to even be competing any longer, he and his trainer illegally, and purposely, risk the lives of their fellow competitors for their own gain, and with their continual denial they show no remorse. Margarito and his trainer should have been banned from boxing forever, but the power of the almighty dollar win’s over right from wrong again. Cotto is an honest hard-working fighter , and a real gentleman. I will root for Cotto to win this fight, he deserves it, Margarito does not…
