Sergio Martinez (a good idea), is now considering fighting either JMM, Shane Mosley or Andre Berto.
Shane Mosley currently looks like the future winner in the Pacquiao lottery. Bob Arum knows that Mosley is a household name, a future hall of famer and one of the more easily marketable Pacquiao prospective opponents. Had Shane looked competitive against Mayweather and dominant against Sergio Mora, there would not even have to be a Pacquiao lottery. Shane would be the man. Unfortunately, besides a solid 2nd round, Mosley was completely dominated by Mayweather for the remainder of the fight. Mosley went on to fight to a lackluster draw against Sergio Mora. Although I still believe Shane has some left in the tank, his best days are behind him. Shane, who was seen on 24/7 having some difficulty making weight, may have more luck in the 154 pound division. Dropping to 147 will not help this fading fighter.
Andre Berto, who looked impressive in his first round knockout of Freddy Hernandez has not fought a great welterweight in his prime. Berto has beaten Luis Collazo, in a tough fight. Carlos Quintana and Juan Urango, who were all arguably tailor made for Berto both were suffered a defeat by his fists. Berto, who is an incredible fighter and I think a good opponent for Pacquiao would do best taking a different fight. Berto who said he is ready for the main course, might not realize that Pacquiao is not only the main course, but dessert and after dinner drinks. Berto also is the least marketable name out of the bunch. He has been fighting consistently on HBO but is far from a household name. He does have star potential, and will become a star or astronomical size is he does land the fight, and beat Pacquiao.
This brings us to our final contestant, Juan Manuel Marquez. Arum, who says Marquez is not that marketable may have overlooked the great wars that JMM and Pacquiao already put on. Think about it. Who else has pushed Pacquiao to the limit and arguably beat him twice. The first fight was a draw and the second was only decided by one point, Marquez and Pacquiao have a rivalry and history. I believe that Marquez is as marketable, or more marketable than Mosley. How can you better market a fight that has two prequels that were both competitive and highly contested?
I do believe that Marquez beat Pacquiao in both fights, but will not argue the decision due to the fact that Marquez has knocked down in both fights (three times in the first fight). A good percentage of the boxing community does believe that Marquez won both fights. The entire boxing community can agree that both fights were incredible. Why not let Marquez-Pacquiao happen one more time? Marquez can beat Pacquiao and prove that he really is Pac-Man’s greatest foe of all time, or, Pacquiao can show the world that he is the most dominant fighter on the planet.
Everone (especially Marquez) really wants to fight Pacquiao because of MONEY! Anyone, who fights the No.1 and most exciting boxer of the world today, is assured of BIG MONEY! That’s the truth. Arum is a promoter – – a smart businessman. He promotes fights that he believes will give him a BIG return of his investment. He knows much, much more than anyone of us. If he says Marquez is not saleable; don’t question it. If he says Mosley is more saleable; don’t argue with him. Here’s something to ponder with, guys – – Arum would have faded away long time ago from the boxing scene if he is not a SMART PROMOTER/BUSINESSMAN! So, to all of you who is questioning his choice of Pacquiao’s next opponent – – please keep your mouth shut! Okay!

The Clottey fight was the biggest JOKE fight of them all. What was the point, other than to make money? No point. Arum is running this show purely for money now, and MOST hardcore boxing fans can see it.
however, most casual fans will still pee their pants and find a way to get excited about Pacman/Mosley. But for those of us who are die-hard fans of this sport… Pacman/Mosley is just another “fuck the fans, let’s make money” fight.

Marquez should get the fight but Mosley will. Why would they pick the guy that put Pac-Man through hell twice instead of making the easier money of the three fighters with a past his prime Mosley. They are just doing whatever fills their pockets with letting Pacquiao take the less physically damaging or challenging of the three fights. JMM should be first pick plain and simple and we all know why, then Berto cuz he is young and unbeaten even though mostly against guys he was sure to be beat. Mosley cuz he has a name that people know, give me a break it’s not names it’s about challenges and risks in this sport which Pacquiao is taken very little of since he’s blown up. The more cherry-picking they do only damages his boxing rep to true fans of the sport.
Fighting mosley is cherry picking? then why marquez wont fight mosley and opt to fight straight forwarded katsidis? Marquez beaten Paquiao twice? then why beg for a third fight?. . Its too late for Marquez to win the Pacman lottery now, he rejected the offer of their 2nd rematch that takes four long years right after the first fight and opt to fight with a loss to Chris John and now he’s crying for a third fight.. too late. Pacquiao fights now has nothing to prove for greatness, he’s done with it, It’s all about how much he will get for every fight he will take and Arum got his eyes on Mosley with that…
Pacquiao vs Marquez would be the more exciting fight……..good action.!! I think mosley would freeze like he did with mayweather…..and Berto isn’t ready for this type of fight…..
