Official: Manny Pacquiao vs Shane Mosley May 7

Its official Manny Pacquiao will face Shane Mosley on May 7 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The fight will take place at the welterweight limit of 147 pounds for Pacquiao’s WBO welterweight title.

Shane Mosley was able to negotiate a deal with Bob Arum, Top Rank, after Mosley left Golden Boy Promotions, Top Rank’s bitter promotional rival. Mosley was upset that Golden Boy was pushing Juan Manuel Marquez, another Golden Boy fighter, to get the fight instead of him, so he went out on his own to secure the fight. Mosley is taking 5 Million plus a percentage of the pay-per-view fees. Its also rumored that Top Rank will promote Mosley’s next fight, win or lose against Pacquiao.

Freddie Roach said he preferred for Pacquiao to fight Marquez or Berto before Mosley, but said of the match when told it had been agreed to, “I think it’s a good fight. I feel that Shane is one of the toughest guys left out there right now. He didn’t get up for ‘The Contender’ guy [Mora], but he will get up for Manny Pacquiao. It’s a difficult fight because Shane has speed and power.

“He’s getting a little older, which is in our favor, but I expect Shane to be at his best because he’s wanted this fight for a long time. I will get Pacquiao well prepared for this one.”

    Someone is going to have to give in.

    Your right Pacquio has a right too do exactly what he wants. But I can tell you this a whole lot of Can of worms is opening up for him regardless if he doesn’t takes the test or not. He agree on doing it at the beginning and what happen it was a dispute over dates come on…..who are we kidding if you agree
    then comply, Shane Mosley did, even though he was connected to the Balco scandla awhile back but decided to take the test whats the big deal for Pacquio.

  2. It is true that that Mayweather shouldn’t be able to add stipulations to the fight. So yeah Manny had the right to turn that down but if he wanted Mayweather that bad he should have done it since he was willing to the second time around. Bottom line is these guys need to fight each other or at least fighters who deserve to fight them or simply retire they are #1 and 2 P4P same weight division. I don’t know about anybody else but if I was on the cusp of becoming the greatest fighter of my era and I had that confidence that they claim to have that I could stop the #2 or #1 P4P I’d do what it would take to establish myself as such to the World.

  5. No matter what anyone says There’s only one reason why the Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight hasnt happened yet. The answer is FLOYD, for some reason he’s being allowed to put his own stipulations on his fights. As far as I know, Nobody does that. Why he’s being allowed to make up his own rules is beyond me. He is underminding the athority of the commission and the integrity of every boxer he gets in the ring with. He wants to make anyone that refuses the test to look suspect. Who the does this woman beater think he is. If I was a fighter I would tell floyd to stick his test up his funky ass just like Pacman basicly did the first time they tried to make the fight. If it wasnt for that test and floyds B/S we would have seen this fight last year. It’s as simple as this, Floyd stop being a Pu–y and fight. By the time this fight happens mannys going to be older, damaged, and on his way out of boxing. Of course thats what floyd wants, but by then noone will give a shit about this fight anymore. Just look what happened with Jones vs Hopkins. If this fight doesnt happen this year Floyds career is over. No matter how much I want to see this assclown lose, if he dosent fight Pacquiao I sware ill never watch another one of that faggots fights again. Floyd hides behind that test and people have the nerve to blame Pacquiao. That test and floyds fear is the one and only reason this fight hasent happened.

  7. I am upset because boxing fans like me want to see Floyd Mayweather Jr fight Manny Pacquiao. I want to see the best fights happen. There should be a rule that fan have a say. I am growing frustrated with this matter. WHY? don’t they fight. Who do you think is Scare Manny or Floyd? I wanted to see that one like every true boxing fan. Its a shame. I hope Shane Mosley be at his very best that night. He needs that fire again the hunger and will to better condition himself. To be the Sugar Shane Mosley i know. Pacquiao can be beat like any great fighter in their prime.
    He is very fast though and Mosley has to fight giving different angles. Not stay stationary like other fighters do. He has to throw more jabbs and precision punches and be on point not waste punches and energy because Pacquiao will not miss. I like Manny. He is a true gentlement and a Warrior in the square circle. I hate to see any loser here. Shame Mosley is a true winner. a Warrior wanting big fights like this one. Do you think Floyd Mayweather Jr was scare to lose to him.   8. I hear you bori4life I’m not wanting to pay for this fight either, but its all we got for now. So like I said, I’ll just pitch in with some friends so it doesnt hurt the pocket. Plus if the fight sucks, at least I didnt pay 55$ for it. I know this isnt the fight we all want to see but beggers cant be choosers. If you guys think these fights are bad now, just think about the B/S we’re going to be stuck watching when guys like Mosely, Cotto, Pacquiao, and even mayweathers punk ass are gone. There are a few lightweights that look pretty good, and one or two welterweights. I dont know about you guys but I dont see a whole lot of really good up and coming talent. I see alot of bums and some over rated mediocre fighters, who if given the chance still couldnt hang with the likes any of the formentioned. When I look to the future of boxing I feel bad for all of us.

  13. I understand that everyone would rather see pacman fight Marquez, I would too. But at the same time remember that pacquiao just had fights with all the top welterweghts not including mosely & mayweather. I dont think a fight with mosely is an easy one, I mean yea the guy is older and not what he used to be but he is still very dangerous.It only takes one punch to change the course of a fight and mosely still has the ability to do that. I agree with jesus that Mosely is the only real welterweight left for him to fight. You all should also remember that pacman just came off fights with Cotto, Clottey, and Margarito. None of which were easy fights. I already said that I dont believe this will be an easy fight but even if it is, I think Pacman is intitled to a tune up. I think we will see Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 in due time, but until then Marquez will have to wait in line like everyone else. Everyone should also recall that the fight was offered to Marquez and he got to greedy for his own good. I know Marquez has a score to settle, but he’s also looking for a big payday. If he wanted a remach so bad why did wait so long to ask for one?

  15. In all fairness, ( not counting Mayweather) Mosley is the only bonafide welterweight left for Pacquiao to fight. Everyone else needs to either come down in weight or come up in weight. I’m not paying for this fight by any means. I’ll probably see it at a sports bar or watch FOR FREE on the Mexican channels.

  17. For JJ Marquez I think he need to fight two or three more fighters before fighting pacquiao, to tune-up himself in pacquiao’s level, in the perfect weight of 146 or 151 lbs. JJM must fight Cotto, Clottey, or even Margarito in 146 or 151 lbs.to prove himself that he has the power to knockout pacquiao, even though he never proved it yet, based on their previous fight. If JJM will fight pacquiao on catch weight of 146 this time. He will be fighting a 165 or 170 lbs.of strength and power, which is not good for JJM, and maybe this time he will be experiencing very serious damage from pacquiao unlike before. If he really want to fight pacquiao, he must first fight those three fighters mentioned above.

  22. im against the fight but imma watch it. in the newspaper i wont pay for this fight nor watch it in anyones house. im a boxing fan but us boxing fans deserve better fights than this and while people keep buying garbage they will keep feeding garbage. there are to manny hungry young fighters out there to be fighting mosley. and for pacman to say yes AGAIN to a fight like this shows how much of a coward he is. i lost the little respect i had for him as a fighter. they decided not to fight in april to take may 7th because golden boy had that date. that shows no class and it shows how much bob arum doesnt wanna make a manny vs mayweather fight.

    as much as I don’t think it’s cool that Manny is fighting Mosley, cuz I rather see Manny/Marquez… for me NOT to watch the fight would be illogical. I Love boxing. Maybe a little too much honestly lol

  30. My opinion on this fight its goin to be an easy fight for pacquiao! We all know!!. Mosely is a great fighter and a legend in this sport and hall of famer been in the big fights but he doesn’t have the skills. like he use too. I seen his last two fights with mayweather and mora. I wont buy this fight with mosely vs pacman ill c it somewhere else. We want to c marquez vs pacquiao 3 marquez derserves this fight! Just give the man his fight! Wheather he wins or loose he has a true heart in the ring Pacquaio is ducking marquez!

The man’s finished he’s there to get beat up, make money, and make Manny look better against him then Mayweather did with a stoppage and after the fight Mosley is gonna declare Pacquiao as the better fighter then Mayweather.
