Is official the state of Texas has grant Antonio Margarito a license to fight on November 13th at Cowboys Stadium against Manny Pacquiao. It was just a week ago today when the California State Athletic Commission denied Margarito a license. Unlike California, Texas has the opportunity to profit from Margarito’s next fight. Texas is poised to loosely reinstate Margarito without a hearing by the end of the week. According to sources close to the negotiation, Texas authorities have all the information they need to reinstate Margarito in the form of a letter the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation’s head of combat sports requested from the Assn. of Boxing Commissions. In the four-paragraph letter, ABC President Timothy Lueckenhoff and other board members advised to state commissions that “Margarito has fulfilled his obligations” to appear before California before seeking a license elsewhere “and thus he is now free to pursue licensure with any ABC member commission. There is nothing under the federal law that would prohibit consideration for licensure.”

“I want to thank the state of Texas for granting me a boxing license which enables me to continue my passion for the sport of boxing in the United States,” Stated Margarito. “I have dedicated my life to giving the fans of the sport entertainment and excitement. On November 13, this great opportunity will ultimately be fulfilled when I battle Manny Pacquiao.”

On the other hand Javier Capetillo, the central figure in the Antonio Margarito hand wrapping scandal, has been denied a trainer’s license by the Puerto Rican Boxing Commission, according to Primera Hora. Capetillo who is currently training Giovanni Segura for Saturdays, August, 28 showdown against Ivan “Iron Boy” Calderon cannot be in Segura’s dressing room or corner. The unification clash for the WBA and WBO Junior-flyweight titlesis taking place in Puerto Rico. Capetillo, is suspended by the State of California, but has been licensed in Mexico.

  1. @myboxingfan, Honestly I would rather see margo vs floyd. If there’s going to be an upset thats the one I’d like to see. I’d pay 100 bucks to watch floyd have his ass handed to him. But margarito is another in the long list of fighters mayweather avoids. PPV ratings seems to be one of floyds biggest excuses for avoiding fights. Pacman vs margarito is going to make alot of money. I wonder who floyd will decide to fight after that fight, Or maybe he’ll dodge both of them altogether.

  2. Go Margarito .please through punches.Pummel his face which is very susceptible to cuts and bruises.
    GO Margarito

  3. This is exciting! Marga is bigger but the man from the Philippines will again show the world how great he is on November 13. Mark your calendars my friends. This will be another W for the #1 P4P King!

Sorry guys, I always go for Manny. There will be no such thing as ‘upset’ going to happen on Nov. If Marga would be fighting PBF I think the would be an upset but he’s battling with Pacquiao, and that’s a different story.

  4. What a difference 2 year makes!
When Manny was fighting Oscar, Larry Merchant’ seeing the beating Manny was giving, for a second fantasize about Pacquiao Vs Margarito, and if I remember right someone said “No way! Margarito is too big and too strong”, now the fight is actually happening and Margarito will come as a heavy underdog, I’m very skeptical of Tony pulling the upset, but boy oh boy, if he does it will be crazy!
    Go Tony!

  5. I am so loving all of the positive comments and well wishes for Tony on this website..I hope he sees just how many of us out there love him and are rooting for him!

  8. I’d honestly rather see Marquez in there with Pac one more time.Just wont happen with Pac staying at welter and Juan staying at lightweight. Either way this is gonna be a good one Antonio is gonna walk through Pacs punches but still gonna lose it. But im still rooting for ya Margarito surprise me and the world

  9. I totally respect your comment “TijuanaBoxing”. There’s something special about Tony..I’ve always respected him in the ring and that will never change. I have seen him pull off an upset before….just hoping it happens one more time…

  10. Not to sure about that, but I will be cheering for Margarito, funny how a couple years ago no one thought Pacquiao could win over the bigger Margarito, and now it’s completely the opposite.

  11. Finally!!!! Yayuhhhh Now world, get ready for the bigges upset of all time!!!!! Go get that Pac Man Tijuana Tornado!
