PPV results for Mayweather-Mosley

HBO Sports confirmed that 1.4 million pay-per-view buys were generated from the May 1st welterweight fight between Floyd Mayweather and Sugar Shane Mosley at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The fight was promoted by Mayweather Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions. The 1.4 million buy total generated $78.3 million in pay-per-view revenue. The pay-per-view buy total includes 740,000 from cable homes and 660,000 from satellite and telco homes.

Pacquioa wins election

Manny Pacquiao is the winner of the heated election for the sole congressional seat in the region. With 85% of the votes counted, Pacquiao has more than 79,000 votes compared to political rival Roy Chiongbian’s 39,000+. Pacquiao has already been projected as a landslide winner in local media. The Chiongbian family has been a political dynasty that has ruled the province for decades.

WBO Interim bantamweight champion Eric ‘Little Hands of Steel’ Morel and three-time world champion Jorce Arce faced off during a press conference at Dave & Busters for their upcoming WBO title fight. Promoted by Top Rank, in association with Zanfer Promotions and Tecate, “Latin Fury 15″, will be televised on Top Rank Pay-Per-View on June 26 from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The telecast will feature Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs John Duddy in the main event. Top Rank also today announced the two best fighters in San Antonio, Raul Martinez and Gabe Elizondo, will do battle on the card.

R.I.P. Cotto Sr.

The Puerto Rico Amateur Boxing Federation honored the life and dedication of Miguel A. Cotto Sr. in the inaugural acts for the famous “Cheo Aponte’s International Tournament” in Caguas, Puerto Rico. “It is an honor for me, my mother Juana, my brothers Miguel and Juan Miguel, to receive this recognition made to my father. He worked really hard in this sport and for amateur boxing in Puerto Rico. His dedication, discipline, and determination will guide us for life,” said Jose Miguel Cotto.
