Marcos “El Chino” Maidana will defend for the first time his interim WBA super lightweight title this coming Saturday against William Gonzalez of Panama in his hometown of Santa Fe, Argentina. Maidana (26-1, 25KO) who finished off his training in Las Vegas, NV, under the watchful eye of Miguel Diaz, departed to Maidana’s native Argentina last Sunday after witnessing the Pacquaio-Cotto mega fight. Maidana is coming off his spectacular stoppage of Victor Ortiz in the sixth round to earn the title.
