“Lopez is a good person and it would be a great fight but it would not be in Puerto Rico, it would have to be somewhere in the United States”, Luevano responded via telephone from his home in La Puente, CA.
Never the less, he did admit that Bob Arum of Top Rank would have the final word since he is the promoter of both fighters.
“He hasn’t spoken to me yet about the possibility of fighting Lopez, so all would depend on Top Rank,” declared Luevano. “Fighting Lopez would open a lot of doors for me and I willing to do it.”
Lopez soon after questioned the reason why Luevano would not want to fight in Puerto Rico.
“If it is not in Puerto Rico, where do they know Luevano? he knows that the promoter is how takes care of the venue,” Juan Manuel Lopez stated. “With time, everything will work out. I don’t have a problem fighting with Luevano in any city. I would like to win my second world title in front of my people.”
