Fightnews reports: WBA #2 flyweight Luis “El Nica” Concepcion (18-1, 13 KOs) stopped WBA #4 Omar Salado (21-2-2, 12 KOs) in round twelve to claim the vacant WBA interim flyweight belt on Saturday night at the Arena Roberto Duran in Panama City, Panama. Referee Luis Pabon waved it off at the :39 mark of the final stanza, crowning Concepcion who dominated Salado for much of the fight. The bout highlighted the WBA’s “KO to Drugs” Festival XXI. Former six division world champion Oscar De La Hoya was among the celebrities on hand for the event.

In a WBA featherweight eliminator, former world champion and currently #3 ranked Daniel Ponce De Leon (36-2, 31 KOs) earned a title opportunity by pounding out a twelve round unanimous decision over #4 Roinet Caballero (27-8-1, 19 KOs). Scores were 119-108, 119-108 and 117-111.

Super flyweight Ricardo Nuñez (16-1, 14 KOs) dropped Timur Shailezov (16-4, 2 KOs) three times before their bout was halted at 2:34 of round four.

Unbeaten super welterweight Austin Trout (20-0, 13 KOs) claimed the WBA Fedelatin belt with an eleven round majority decision over Nilson Tapia (11-2, 8 KOs). Scores were 106.5-102.5, 106-102, 105-105. Trout hails from Las Cruces, New Mexico.
