A long distance call from Bob Arum over the weekend proved crucial in compelling Manny Pacquiao to finally make a decision to face Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico, a senior adviser of the Filipino fighter told fightnews and Manila Bulletin on Monday night. Mike Koncz said Pacquiao and Cotto will square off at 145 lbs on Nov. 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and “an adjustment” was made in the negotiations in Pacquiao’s favor. Koncz, however, politely declined to divulge details. Pacquiao had insisted that Cotto go down to 143 lbs for the fight to take place but Arum may have said something that was music to Pacquiao’s ears. Pacquiao lawyer Franklin Gacal said recently that “a premium” would likely persuade Pacquiao to accommodate Cotto’s request that the scheduled 12-rounder be fought at 145 lbs. It had originally been planned that Pacquiao, Koncz and Gacal would fly to Los Angeles but Koncz said there would be no more need for such a tiring and costly trip since Pacquiao has already agreed. Koncz said an announcement from Arum is expected soon.
its great that they are fighting at 145. pac-man wants to fight at welterweight he has to be a welterweight. 142-143 was to much pac wont have to do much at all at 142-143. its gonna be a great fight i cant wait. mosley is still gd i think he should fight berto and see what happens after that fight. margarito should be banned i dont respect people like him. he could of caused mosley his life. i know he has done it before but never got caught. boxing will never die its a great sport.
i thinck miguel cotto should fiight 147 becuse is a welterwieght that is no catch wieght if pac man want to fight a welterwieght well you need come up as a welterwieght ad 146 or 147 right don’t be a chicken -chicken and a big fat chicken be a real fighter like cotto he got may respect —- this lettler is for pacman

You know Tijuana we all knew it was going too be at 145 if this fight where too happen, now ss for Arum, he must have really pleased the spoiled Pacquaio. He wanted too fight at 143 not at 145, But regardless the fight is happening, ESPN is no lie……
But this is what I find funny With Pacquaio. He shouldn’t have made it a problem in the first place too fight at 145 I find that strange that he wanted Cotto at 143. Or maybe he’s just greedy. Learning something new all the time.

It’s a good thing we have a fight now and I hope Cotto does make it more exciting than Hatton did! Can’t wait. Poor Mosley has nobody to fight with, maybe a rematch with Margarito next year?
