rm1The ex WBC super bantamweight world champion Rafael Marquez of Mexico City, MX, returns to the ring on a fightcard billed as “Lethal Combat”

against Jose “Pegoña” Mendoza of Columbia after more than a year of inactivity. Marquez’s last fight was his defeat at the fists of Israel Vazquez of Los Angeles, CA by way of Mexico City.

“I have been inactive for over a year but I have been training for six months. I feel good, I have trained a lot and I will not let my fans down. I know that my opponent is very strong and has only two defeats and 22 knockouts, “Marquez stated to the newspaper Diario de Mexico.

Marquez mentioned that he is open to a third fight with Vazquez as well as a bout with Jhonny Gonzalez at 122 lbs. but by November the younger of the Marquez brothers plans to move north to the featherweight division.
