Nothing official yet, but word is Top Rank’s November 1 pay-per-view card at the Mandalay Bay Events Center will feature a rematch between “Son of the Legend” Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Matt Vanda if you recall my previous article boxing fans threw beer and Ice at Cesar Chavez, below your will find a recap.

I might be with Cesar Chavez Jr. on Monday and I can’t wait to ask him about him wanting to retire. If you have any good questions I should ask Chavez Jr.  Leave your question on the comment section and I will ask Chavez when I see him next week.

July 12, 2007- After Julio Cesar Chavez Jr’s controversial split decision win over Matt Vanda on Saturday night, Junior dropped the bombshell that he’s considering hanging up his gloves for good. “The people wanted me to score a knockout but I could not,” Chavez Jr. told TV AZTECA. “The people are very, very un-content with the result (this as Julio Sr is being booed when trying to calm down the crowd) and what can I tell you? What can I tell you as a fighter? Everything is just very sad….because of the fight….I don’t know what to do. I don’t know what I will do. I need to think about it real hard. I am considering retirement.”

Meanwhile, Julio Sr. lashed out at unruly fans that booed and threw things into the ring after the controversial decision was announced. “It’s a group of drunks,” said the Mexican legend. “I don’t like excuses, but my son made a super human effort, he fought sick and wanted to cancel the fight. The doctor gave him a shot because he had a fever after the weigh-in,” he said.

Does this mean Chavez can’t handle the pressure so he wants to retire now? Note to Chavez: let your gloves do the talking and not your last name.  I think its time to cut the umbilical cord.
