Former world champions Wilfredo Vázquez Jr. (21-2-1, 18 KOs) and Rafael Marquez (41-7, 37 KOs) were face to face today at a press conference for their August 4 pay-per-view clash billed as “The War, Puerto Rico vs Mexico” at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
Rafael Marquez: I had been training for a month and a half and I come to Puerto Rico for a war. Puerto Ricans know who I am and know that I come to fight.”
Wilfredo Vazquez Jr: “I know you and I’m training for a big fight. I don’t underestimate you for your age as a lot of people do. I had two ways to continue my career. The long way to make two or three fights and then go for a title or fight against Marquez, a veteran or the short way. I choose the short way and I am going to fight Marquez.”
