“Electrifying.” “Suspenseful.” “A brawl.” Those are just a few of the superlatives chosen by the experts to illustrate the first showdown between 11-time World Champion Floyd Mayweather and Argentine slugger Marcos Maidana. Arguably the toughest 36 minutes of the pound-for-pound champ’s career, fans at MGM Grand and across the world were anticipating a rematch immediately after Jimmy Lennon Jr. announced Mayweather’s close split-decision victory. Check out this recap of their first encounter and the ensuing post-fight press conference to relive the drama as we inch closer to “MAYHEM: Mayweather vs. Maidana 2”, Saturday, Sept. 13, LIVE on SHOWTIME PPV.
I actually don’t think the first fight was as close as people make out.A little of the press tour has seemed a little….dare i say fake? Would chino and robert garcia agree to try and give the fight a bit of…….Mayhem? Ok sure chino deserves a rematch, but there was other fight’s out there i would of rather paid to see,GGG being just one of them.Cotto went to middleweight and won a title, surely floyd should of done the same no? I think floyd beat’s golovkin, but saying that he had to drain canelo to 152,so a 158 golovkin would be serious trouble for money to say the least.Thought’s anyone? great article brother, keep them coming,i alway’s tweet them and facebook them.
