Golpedegracia.es.tl is reporting that the WBC lightweight title fight between the unefeated Venezuelan Edwin Valero (24-0, 24KO) and Antonio Pitalua (46-3, 40KO) of Colombia might take place in Tijuana, MX, on the same card where Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Humberto Soto and Fernando Montiel also make an appearance.
Originally scheduled to be contested in the state of Quintana Roo but according to the promoter of the bout Ricardo Maldonado Jr., better offers have been made from Tijuana and Mexico City respectively.
Valero who has won every one of his professional fights by KO as his record attest, has built up most of his career in his native Venezuela as well as in the land of the rising sun, Japan, after being banned from competition in the United States after a MRI detected excessive bleeding in his brain after a motorcyle accident.
Valero who trains out of Las Vegas with Kenny Adams, recently signed to Top Rank promotions and after much investigation has been given a license to fight in Texas.
Pitalua, 38, is focused on earning the green and gold WBC strap, “I am sure I can beat Valero because I want to be a world champion and I won’t allow for my last train to pass me by,” he stated to Esto, the daily newspaper.
“With hard work and intelligence and above all knowing how to do my job inside the ring, I am going to win. I have studies every one of his fights. I am sure that Valero will not defeat me, we will see who hits harder and who can last longer.”
