Manny Pacquiao has been training for his upcoming fight on Nov. 13 against Antonio Margarito in his native Philippines but it seems like he’s been having too many distractions. Last month Pacquiao was taken to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center after complaining of pain on his left foot shortly after a sparring section. MRI revealed no signs of a serious injury. Yesterday Typhoon Megi struck nearby Pacquiao’s training camp killing at least 20 and destroying thousands of homes and farms.
Pacquiao took a break from his training during those typhoons and drove through the rain to Manila where he handed out food and supplies to people who lost everything. If being in the Philippines congress wasn’t enough distraction, Pacquiao also took another break in training to practice with his band as he performed at Michael Koncz’s wedding.
Let’s just hope Pacquiao is not taking Margarito lightly, he should know Margarito will be coming down hard on him in an effort to reclaim the respect of the boxing community. Pacquiao and his trainer Freddie Roach have started to wrap up camp in Baguio City as they’re scheduled to fly to Los Angeles on Saturday. They’ll resume training camp at Roach’s Wild Card Gym on Monday.
And I hate to be a stickler but it’s “too” not “to.”
Understandably Pacquiao has done this before. People doubted his focus on both fights with Cotto and Clottey due to his “public obligations” as the most popular man in the Philippines and yet he defeated them. But now as a congressman, it seems his lack of focus is even more evident, especially with Pacquiao’s breaks from training at the Wild Card where his usual, no holds barred training sessions take place during the last two weeks before his big matches.
Will Pacquiao’s final week make up for Margarito’s consistent and undeniable redemption-fueled training camp? It’s hard to say. Pacquiao is without a doubt a GREAT fighter- he’s more skilled, experienced and incredily precise with executing strategy. However what Margarito has that Pacquiao seems to lack at the moment is determination. He knows what he has a lot to gain with this fight and what it would mean. Not only that, he’s a heavy-handed fighter who’s put in extensive training.
Pacquiao on the other hand, hasn’t seemed to gauge just what he might lose if he did suffer a loss- and ironically, its the same thing Margarito would gain: respect.
Pacquiao has hopefully put all distractions aside this final week of training and make up for the time lost but who know if that will suffice. It’s surely going to be one hell of a fight and although I claim myself as an avid Pacquiao supporter, this is the first time where I’ve experienced, unfortunately, doubt.
good for him .I hope gets all of his important appointments and commitments before the fight
so that he can be more distracted and not focused .hahahahahaha.
Go Margarito .The Totnado will surprise manny with his resistance and unremitting punches .
The Tornado is very confident to the extent when he was asked if he cares about roach’s
prediction ,he retorted “I don’t give a f… about what roach had said because he is a doddering old trainer who is very scared that manny is going to get knocked down .”
Margarito’s confidence is worrying manny and roach ,therefore, roach is experimenting all can of
exercises on manny.I heard that roach requested manny to dive under the water for one hour with
O2 tank. Also I heard that roach is asking manny
to stand in front of a moving train and try to stop it with a straight right hand to head light .hahahahajahajahahahahahahahhahahahahahah
roach asked Khan to to pull manny eyebrow as an endurance exercise.hahahahaha.
Just being facetious ! Go Margarrrrrrrrrrrrrritooooo.
Yeah he better focus Nov.13 is approaching fast. Then I was one of those people that said about the Cotto fight but I was still rooting for Manny.
Manny seems to always keep himself very busy and people always wonder if its to much to handle. It was the same thing before the cotto fight, Everyone thought he had to much on his plate. There is a fine line between being busy and losing focus. I hope manny doesnt cross that line and keeps things balanced. But taking alot of breaks from training cant be a good thing. maybe he should keep a pic of margarito on his mirror like rocky did with drago lol.
I’ve said it over and over…you can not be a part time fighter. If you do, then you got another thing coming to you.
