It’s with no doubt that the fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao is the talk of all boxing fans and everyone has their own reasons why their fighter is going to win but before you start betting your money, keep in mind what is happening around your boxer.
For example, Manny Pacquiao is having to many distractions. March 13 is just around the corner and as you know, Pacquiao is running for congress in the Philippines and according to the Manila Bulletin, two supporters of Pacquiao’s election campaign were recently shot and killed by gunmen riding on a motorcycle. If you think this will not affect you mentally then… I don’t know.
Pacquiao’s supporters, identified as Alexander Anpan, a Sanggunian Kabataan chairman of Barangay Datu Dani, and his step-father Narocol Agil, a former barangay official, were fired at while walking on their way home. They were murdered, according to witnesses, because of their strong support for Manny Pacquiao’s candidacy. It makes you wonder if the killing was politically motivated because there are important and sensitive roles that a member of the legislative assembly must perform and people are just wondering how the world’s boxing champ would fare. There’s going to be a lot more pressure on Pacquiao in this fight other than just dealing with Mayweather’s boxing skills.
For fear of being outsmarted by Floyd Mayweather Jr., Manny Pacquiao, by way of his lawyer Franklin Gacal, said late Tuesday night in the Philippines that the Filipino fighter will be “demanding a penalty of $10 million per pound or a fraction thereof over and above 147 lbs during the weighin.”. Gacal, however, made it clear that the “penalty applies to both fighters”, meaning if Pacquiao fails to make weight, he will also be forced to cough out the same amount.
Floyd Mayweather was compelled to pay Marquez a total of $600,000 for coming in at 146 lbs against Juan Manuel Marquez last September. The agreed weight was 144 lbs.
Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions are planning to officially announce the fight but most importantly the location rumors continue to circulate the internet about the fight taking place at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas but I will believe it when it comes out of the wolf’s mouth.
$10-million per extra pound over the 147 limit or a fraction thereof. That’s fair enough. For a certified braggart and cheater, that’s excellent. Perhaps Mayweather et al thought they have the monopoly of ridiculous demands.
MAYWEATHER, when r u going to sign the fight contract??????
