Earlier this week, Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions held a meeting at the Beverly Hills Hotel where they were negotiating a contract for the WBA 147 pound Super Champ Antonio Margarito to face the Sugar sweet Shane Mosley who just came off a stunning victory over Ricardo Mayorga. The possible fight might take place as early as January ’09.
Shane Mosley said after his win against the Nicaraguan “I still have many fights in me and I want to keep fighting right now.”
You, as the boxing fan, do you really think Shane Mosley has what it takes to unwind the Tijuana Tornado?
After seing this Picture of Erik Morales, I think his come back in 2009 will be in the heavy weights. Talking about living the good life.
Truth be told, I loved seeing Shane Mosley knocking out Mayorga. The real truth is that he fought an ‘alright’ fight against an opponent who can not and will not fight for another world title unless he is picked as an easy ‘moneymaker’. All this talk about Mosley fighting Margarito should not be happening. Basically; he didn’t impress. So the question is. Why don’t we hear of the likes of Paul Williams, Josh Clottey and perhaps, dare i say; a rematch with Cotto? Fair enough Margarito deserves to make a few dollars out of a very, very, hard fought fight against Cotto; but Shane Mosley has done nothing to earn a shot at Margaritos well earned title. Maybe a fight with the likes of John Duddy at Light Middle would provide him with a few bucks and GREAT publicity since the Irishman is so popular in Newyork. (A fight that I, being an Irishman think that Mosley would win easily) Edgar, what do you think? I’d like to know. Please reply
Shane can’t win that fight, he knows that and anyone who watch the Mayorga vs Shane will say the same. Margarito is to big and to strong for this old slow Shane.
This Picture was taking back in July, but still, Eric totally forgot about boxing since his last fight, there is no need for a comeback, we are happy with what he has done for boxing. And even if he does come back, he wont be able to make weight and if he fights at a higher weight he will be much slower.
I don’t see the point of it, he is almost at a same situation as Thunder Gatti (2 of my favorite fighters) only heavier.
