On Saturday, March 14th, at the Doubletree Hotel in Orange County, Thompson Boxing Promotions’ third annual “Night of Champions” event will be highlighted by a celebration of the career of former world junior lightweight champion Genaro “Chicanito” Hernandez as well as four action-packed bouts featuring some of boxing’s brightest young prospects.
This night will also see Thompson Boxing Promotions giving back to a warrior who gave so much to the sport as they make a donation to Hernandez to aid in his brave fight against cancer.
In the main event of “Night of Champions”, Salinas’ Alejandro Perez (12-1-1, 7 KOs) takes on Victor “Tommy Gun” Martinez (14-4, 10 KOs) of Matamoros, Mexico in what is expected to be a memorable eight round super bantamweight bout.
The co-feature will see unbeaten power hitter Danny Hernandez (3-0, 3 KOs) of Carson battling Reno’s Jaime Rodriguez (4-3-2, 2 KOs) in a four round lightweight scrap.
Boxing’s big men will also be in action, as somebody’s “0” must go when Riverside’s Hildo Silva (4-0-1, 1 KOs) collides with San Diego’s Marcus Dickerson (3-0, 2 KOs) in a four rounder, and opening up this special night of boxing will be a junior middleweight four rounder between Riverside’s Alberto Herrera and Pascagoula, Mississippi’s Brandon Harper, both of whom are making their pro debuts.
