Phantom punches, ear biting, men parachuting in the ring and now… “Mystery Man” around the ring.
While his name has been discovered to be Mustafa Ameen a gentleman that does work through a third party for the IBF but is not compensated by the IBF nor is he an IBF official as KHAN claimed Ameen stated he was. He was not part of the officiating crew or media yet he was allowed credentials to the fight. So the question has to be asked, what exactly were his credentials for?
At most boxing fights and all major fights there is protocol that needs to be followed by members in the media, promoters, officials and the fighter’s teams; Requests for passes, how many, verification of names and what not. While I do not know exactly how everyone gets access to fights and access to the individuals that are judging the fights as well as promoters, it comes to no surprise that someone could reasonably get near the ring with a little maneuvering.
There is no clear set standards as to who is allowed and who is not allowed in certain areas at certain times and while many will argue that it’s the job of the security to maintain control and who gets where, that seems to work only when people are trying to move to seats that are reserved on the floor or near the ring. Otherwise security is seems to be a little lax.
However, if an individual already has a pass, there is not much to stop them from moving around wherever they please, this would include near the ring.
While there is officials from whichever boxing organization is hosting the title fight as well as local boxing commissions where their own officers are at the fights, it would be a surprise if anyone really knew who was supposed to be allowed near the ring at any given time.
It makes it more difficult when these fighters have six or seven individuals in their entourage when they are coming into the ring and even more from their crew after the fight is over. Not to mention the media that is allowed around the ring to take photos and the usual Sam Watson son trying to get facetime on TV. Simply put, the security does not know every person that is allowed to be in certain areas and probably unable to keep track of all of them if they did. One could also take in the fact that this was the largest fight in D.C. in a while; do you really think the local commission knew what to tell security? If I had to guess, I would say no.
Amir Khan may have a case against the judges in Washington D.C. this past December. However, will it change the outcome?
Probably not, it will just add to the lore and mysteries that boxing seems to come across now and then. However until boxing commissions limit the number of people in the ring at any given time, issues like the Khan fight will still come up and unlike other sports that get streamers or small rodents on their field, boxing gets” mystery men” ringside and questionable water bottles. While I prefer the “conspiracy theories” in boxing over a teenager getting tasered in front of 20,000 any day, I don’t want it at the expense of calling a fight fixed.
I haves lived in DC for 17 years and I was at the fight. The lose security has a ring of truth to it. It was a big event for DC and well DC is DC. On the night I thought Khan lost, as a champ he needed to do more. He has a point about the judge and the ref however he could have put all DC issues to bed with a better performance.
Khan needs to let it go and get himself a rematch. In my book the guy is the best at 140 I simply dislike him because he talks too much his mouth overshadow’s his skill. I was hoping this loss would humble him but he starts this instead. Plain and simple he expected the Manny Pacquiao treatment where he would get a fair shake anywhere he fights. He found out he’s no where near that level yet, he needs to talk less and let his skills shine. Pacquiao earned his status and Khan needs to do the same. I’m not taking anything away from Peterson but he needs to agree to a rematch this controversy is taking away from his acheivments it’s a winnable fight for both fighters so get on it guys.
I agree with you guys, Amir and Golden Boy are just cry babies when they lose. Yes the Mystery man shouldn’t have been involve, but if Amir khan could have won impressively he would of won without any controversy.
Amir got robbed in this fight and everything that this guy was doing IS suspect. I think Amir questioning what this fool is doing ring side, talking to judges, and possibly tampering with things is justifiable. I also notice in that video that the judges dont seem to be paying a whole lot of attention to the fight it self, especially the judge this clown is talking to. Very suspect. Maybe he’s the refs brother and they were in on the robbery together lol.
The only thing Khan needs to do is SHUT HIS BIG ASS MOUTH!!! I have said it over and over. He runs his mouth like he’s a superstar and he thought he was. He wanted the fight in D.C. now he cries about it. All he has do to is secure a rematch and win this time. He is just coming off as a sore loser, Shut your mouth and fight Khan.
If he didn’t run backwards most of the fight he would of won, simple, he needs to stop moaning and just get back in the ring and fight, he’s always the same, pressure fighter 1st couple of rounds then back peddling for most of the fight, a champion gotta fight and impress the judges just as much as the challenger,,,
