WBC World Champion Carl Froch of Nottingham and challenger Andre Dirrell weighed in at 167½ lbs each on Friday in front of an estimated crowd of 3,000 people at the famed Market Square.  Froch will be defending his title on home turf at the Trent FM Arena, where promoter Hennessy Sports is reporting a sellout crowd of about 8,000 people.

Froch is making the second defense of his world title. Dirrell challenges for his first.  Both fighters begin their quest for the inaugural Super Six World Boxing Classic Cup on Saturday, Oct. 17, live on SHOWTIME beginning at 8 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast).

Dirrell made weight on his second attempt, having weighed in earlier in the evening at 168.4 lbs. He had up to two hours to make the official weight for the title fight, but took approximately 45 minutes to return to the scales at 167 ½.

  1. Ahhh this are some good fights happening tomorrow, very interesting to see who comes out as the winner, Jermaine has to be very sharp, I hope his conditioning is top notch, I feel bad for the guy, in his last 2 loses he got KO in the last round on fights he should have won, but he ran out of gas and dropped his hands, I like his style and this is a real test for him now, a win will send him back into the top fighters in the division, but Abraham could be way to much for him to deal with at this moment in his career.

I also want to see what Carl Froch is made of, he showed tremendous heart and will against Taylor but I also picked up a lot of mistakes, so in a way this is a test for both. Those are the two who I’m really looking fwd to see tomorrow.
