Undefeated rising junior welterweight stars Frankie Gomez of East Los Angeles, Calif. and Chicago’s Adrian “EL Tigre” Granados will clash in the eight round main event on Friday, August 26 at “Sólo Boxeo Tecate”: Windy City Fight Night 18 at Chicago’s UIC Pavilion.
Just 19 years old, the heavy-handed Gomez has impressively won his first ten bouts, eight by knockout, since turning professional in April 2010. Fighting since the age of eight, Gomez tore through the amateurs, winning a National championship in 2009 and a Silver medal in that year’s world championships. In 2010, he began his professional journey and has continued to dazzle fight fans with his power, speed and aggression. The rising star is coming off of a devastating fourth round stoppage of Khadaphi Proctor on July 1 at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif., and is looking forward to his Chicago debut in August
Born and raised in nearby Cicero, Illinois, the 21-year-old Granados, (6-0-1, 4KO’s) has been a fan favorite of Chicago fight fans since his professional debut in September 2008. Having previously trained under the tutelage Hall of Fame trainer Nacho Beristain along side legendary boxing brothers Juan Manuel and Rafael Marquez, the all-action Granados has drawn huge crowds at the UIC Pavilion with his exciting performances. In his last outing on July 15, Granados looked dominant, scoring a six round decision victory over Antton Slaughter in Burbank, Ill.
More details on this exciting night of professional boxing will be announced shortly.
