Fighting THIS Saturday “Live at the Lodge”

Shawn Estrada’s new focus means looking straight ahead toward the future. A future he says includes a new dedication to training, and a renewed vigor in his boxing career. A former amateur star, the Southern California is also a 2008 Olympian, having fought in the Beijing Olympics.

He is undefeated as a pro with a 14-0, 12 KO record but during his career he has been beset with injuries and weight issues (fighting from 163 up to 192). But this new Shawn Estrada told me he is leaving all those things behind as he aims to continue adding victories to his ledger.

I caught up with the slugger at Wednesday’s press conference for his stablemate John Molina Jr., during the Molina Jr. versus Antonio DeMarco kickoff. The “Manos de Oro” fighter will be lacing up THIS Saturday, August 11 at the “Live at the Lodge” event promoted by Goossen Tutor Promotions. Estrada will be the main event at the Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City. He will be squaring off against unbeaten Felix Piedra (9-0-1, 6 KOs) in a light heavyweight bout scheduled for eight rounds.

During our interview, Shawn, 27, spoke of his rededicated, fresh focus and his strong faith.

Estrada also sounds off about the controversial officials in the current 2012 Olympics, what training has been like with Joe Goossen at Ten Goose Boxing Gym, what his fans can look forward to and what the future holds. “I’m at 100% and God is good,” he promises. He’s thriving in his training with the famed Goossen camp and is also working with strength and conditioning coach Ivan Avelar.

Check out this video with Shawn Estrada as he answers all the questions lobbed at him and a whole lot more!

And catch the heavy hitter this weekend at Goossen Tutor’s “Live at the Lodge”!
