From the MGM Grand in Vegas for tomorrow night’s “The Challenge,” televised on PPV, both Casamayor and Marquez make weight.
Joel Casamayor 135 vs. Juan Manuel Marquez 135, Sergio Mora 156 vs. Vernon Forrest 154 Mora failed to make weight. Originally, Mora was 156 but, after an hour of drying out, he was 154. WBC Super Welter Champion Sergio Mora made weight for his title defense tomorrow night against former champ Vernon Forrest.
At today’s weigh-in in Biloxi, IBF/WBA/WBO lightweight Nate Campbell originally weighed 135.2 pounds, then made the 135-pound limit even just thirty minutes later. Challenger Joan Guzman was originally 138.5 pounds and has two hours to take off 3.5 pounds.
Joan Guzman did not come back to the scale by the prescribed time, and therefore never made the 135-pound limit for Saturday night’s lightweight title clash against IBF/WBA/WBO champion Nate Campbell. It appears at this time that the fight will go on but Campbell’s titles, of course, would not be on the line.
hopefully Guzman recovers and will be able to see this great fight in the near future.
I can’t wait for this fight.
