Sergio Martinez, who reclaimed the WBC middleweight title last weekend by wining a lopsided unanimous decision over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., is still the hot topic of every boxing fan.

Many people have expressed their disappointment that Martinez couldn’t knock Chavez down. Though I would have loved to see Chavez get knocked out like Paul Williams did. What many people don’t know is that Sergio Martinez suffered a broken left hand during the 4th round. He basically beat Chavez one-handed.

Additionally, Martinez tore ligaments in his right knee while falling down during the 12th round knock down. The knee reportedly may require surgery to repair the damage, according to RingTV. Martinez also needed 8 stitches to close a large cut over his left eye and he also needed a couple of staples in his head. Chavez suffered an 11 round beat down plus a broken nose.

The good news is that Chavez-Martinez drew a live gate of more than $3 million, according to figures released by Nevada State Athletic Commission. Chavez, 26, earned $3 million while $1.4 million for Martinez. Both will also received a percentage of pay-per-view buys.
