Golden Boy held another press conference yesterday to officially announce Saul Alvarez and Junior Welterweight contender Victor Ortiz opponents. These will be the featured undercard bouts for September 18, on Golden Boy Promotions’ “200: CELEBRATE AND DOMINATE” pay-per-view card headlined by Sugar Shane Mosley (46-6, 39 KOs) against Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora (22-1-1, 6 KOs) in a junior middleweight showdown.

Saul Alvarez (33-0-1, 25KOs), who fought less than a month ago in stopping Luciano Cuello, will face former world title holder Carlos Baldomir (45-12-6, 14KOs). Victor Ortiz (27-2-1, 21 KOs), who defeated Nate Campbell in his last bout in June, will take on another former world title holder Vivian Harris (29-4-1, 19 KOs).

“I’m glad to be on such an important card with such good fighters,” said Alvarez, who will fight for the third time in the United States and the second in Southern California. “It’s business as usual when I step into the ring because I fight with desire.”

“I know that it will be a tough fight (against Harris),” said Ortiz, who has now won his last three bouts after losing to Marcos Maidana over a year ago, ironically at STAPLES Center.

  4. This should be a super easy fight for Canelo, I see no reason for this fight, he needs to fight a decent fighter not another “punching bag” Baldomir is to old, to slow and a waste of time for the fans.
