Saul Alvarez Back In Action!

This weekend I was talking to a few fans who like the sport of boxing but they are not fully in deep in the sport like we are who breath boxing 24/7 but one thing they surprised me with was they didn’t know who Alfredo Angulo or Antonio DeMarco were but they knew who Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and all his fights.

It’s no question the 20-year-old is becoming the Mexican sensation and we should all be excited for this young upcoming kid. Alvarez has his next fight lined up against another former titleholder. Canelo will face former junior welterweight titlist Lovemore N’Dou in a scheduled 12-round welterweight bout Dec. 4 in Cancun, Mexico.

The opponents Alvarez is taking are not bums like the garbage Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has fought. N’Dou is a South African native based in Australia who, like Carlos Baldomir, has vast experience. N’Dou held a 140-pound world title for four months in 2007 before losing it via decision to Paulie Malignaggi. N’Dou (48-11-2, 31 KOs), 39, has also faced quality opponents in Miguel Cotto, Junior Witter, Sharmba Mitchell and Kermit Cintron, going the distance in losses to each.

N’Dou has never been stopped and rumor is that if Alvarez wins on Dec 4, he will take on European welterweight champion Matthew Hatton, the brother of former junior welterweight champ Ricky Hatton in March.

Alvarez is already showing interest in fighting Shane Mosley. I don’t know about you but I think they are moving a bit too fast and should slow down.

What’s your opinion? Should Alvarez slow down before he gets burned out or should he go full throttle while he is still young?

  1. @ cabrito
    Chavez sr. Fighting cab drivers?
Havent u catched the news? Hes about to be put into the hall of fame unlike ur precious pacman!.

  2. @Cabrito,
With all due to respect to you and everyone else…can we stop comparing Canelo to Chavez ?? I don’t understnad why people tend to compare them. Both fight bums. What is there to compare ? I don’t get it.

  3. At least he’s fighting faded former champions unlike Chavez jr who fights cab drivers off the street like his old man.

  4. I’ve said it before, Canelo has the necessary tools to be a great champion. As of right now he has not beaten a fighter of high caliber or even ranked in the top 10 by any of the credible organizations. He is still young and needs to get quality wins against quality opponents. Let’s look beyond his undefeated record. A fight with Mosely is too soon. Canelo won’t be ready for that fight until Mosely ia past 40 years old. By then he will be a former shadow of himself or maybe even retired. Let’s get Canelo a fight with Kermit Cintron or even Joshua Clottey. I don’t want to hear about him wanting to fight Pacquiao in 2011. That’s just crazy.

  5. Saul Alvarez is bum he has not fought now one N’Dou is old he needs to fight Miguel Cotto or Julio Cesar Chavez or Victor Ortiz or Manny Pacquiao but the bum is gonna end up like Vargas;fat& a nobody. ya’ll people pushing him too high. but when he falls, he’s gonna fall hard. so until he fights a ‘somebody’ and wins, then I’ll give him props.Until now, he ain’t shit. Cause, hes like oscar. Trying to fight old boxers, make a name for himself.
