Being the son or family member of a legendary world champion like of Julio Cesar Chavez, Hector Camacho or Salvador Sanchez is a big toll. People will always try and compare you to the greatest. Take for example Salvador Sanchez II (30-5-3, 18 KOs) who took on unbeaten featherweight sensation Jason Velez (20-0, 15 KOs) on the under card of Miguel Cotto and Austin Trout at Madison Square Garden this weekend.
Salvador Sánchez Castro is the nephew of boxing legend Salvador Sánchez. This kid even has the same afro hair like his uncle and uses the same type of old school boxing trunks. The only difference is that this kid doesn’t come close to having the same type of skills like the great Salvador Sanchez.
Sanchez II hasn’t done anything to deserve a title shot and when he faced Velez this pass Saturday night for the vacant WBC silver featherweight title, he showed his true colors. He got dropped in the second round with a left hook. His corner slapped him around telling him to focus. By the third round he was dropped again and again before the fight came to an end when referee, Harvey Dock, waived it off.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr might have an impressive record of 46 wins at a young age but just like Salvador Sanchez II they will never be like the real legends of boxing.
