On May 23 WBC super bantamweight world champion Toshiaki Nishioka from Japan will defend against Mexican warrior Jhonny Gonzalez. The co-main event will feature former two-time world champion Rafael Marquez who will face former champion Mauricio Martinez of Panama. This will be Marquez’ first fight since March 2008, his last fight in the legendary Israel Vasquez trilogy Marquez lost a slit decision. In Martinez last fight he lost by unanimous decision against Heriberto Ruiz in an IBF eliminator.
It was rumored that the fight card would land in either Ciudad Juarez or Cancun but it has been confirmed that it will take place in Monterey, MX.
