Have you ever wondered how much money sport commentators and announcers make?
I just visited Michael Buffer’s website and it appears Mr. Buffer makes a lot of money on copyright infringement settlements. Rumor has it that he makes $30,000.00 minimum every time he utters that famous copyrighted phrase which I will not repeat for fear of litigation! That includes expenses, first class airfare tickets and best hotel accommodations. Some people might say he makes up to 1 million dollars every time he says the phrase at larger venues/audiences such as mega fights.
HBO exclusives like Lampley and Merchant probably get paid very well, but I think Jim Lampley makes a lot more money. He’s been covering sports for something like 30 years including the Olympics. He’s basically one of the legends in sports commentating history (whether you always agree with his points or not)
Rumor has it that Teddy Atlas and Jim Tesitore from ESPN don’t make a lot of money. Some say it might be less than $100K a year, but if you love the sport and your are able to attend all these boxing fights and able to hang out with well known boxers, for me that’s priceless.
I would do those kind of jobs just for the love of the sport, if anyone is looking for a commentator/announcer let me know, I can do English/Spanish/Italian let me know ! : 0 )
i love what you do my man, very cool stuff! keep it up.
