(From Left to Right) Miguel Cotto’s trainer Pedro Diaz, WBA Super Welterweight World Champion Miguel Cotto and President of Golden Boy Promotions Oscar de la Hoya pose on April 17, 2012 in Orlando, Florida during Cotto’s media workout in preparation for his May 5, 2012 world title defense against Seven-Time and Five-Division World Champion Floyd Mayweather at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada which will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View

Here are some of Miguel Cotto Quotes from Yesterday.

“We are working hard to achieve our goals. I’ve achieved everything I’ve wanted to so far during this camp. I am thinking about the victory and after that, we will celebrate. You have to keep your eyes on your opponent and always be prepared for anything in the ring.

“[On watching film of Mayweather] My work is just to train. Pedro studies the tapes and I follow him.

“[On being a man of few words] It’s my way of life. I prefer to be quiet and calm.

“My father passed away January 3, 2010. He will always be with me. Anything I am right now is because of him. I owe him everything. My dad is always on my mind. He lives with me and in everything I do. He taught me how to go forward and do my thing.

“I feel that this is my moment. I feel great and I am in my prime. I have great people around me. I have a purpose to train every day. I am motivated to fight anyone in boxing. This is how I am and how I have always been. Every fight is a big challenge. Everyone wants to win. Everyone works to win. This is going to be mine and Mayweather’s next big chapter in our careers.”

  1. Yeah Johnny thats exactly what I’m expecting from Mayflower. Floyds going to try and make this a snooze fest by hiding behind his shoulder all night and pop shotting Cotto. Floyd is so defence orientated that I don’t think he realy knows how to fight toe to toe. He just faints alot and tries to get that one punch counter, he never realy exchanges cuz he’s to afraid of being counterd back. I truly believe Floyds game is as much gimick as it is skill, he may not run from his opponents but he does alot of hiding, Floyds plan is to BS his way threw this fight and get a UD. I have a real concern about Cotto getting a fair shake at the end of this fight. I hope that the judges and Cotto don’t let him get away with his stupidass antics. Mayflower will try to make this one of his usual nonsence filled fights with all his shoulder tilting, leaning on ropes, and elbow pushing but Cotto is the monkey wrench thats going to bring the mayflower circus down. hopefully the judges aren’t a bunch of Vegas sellouts on Floyds nuts. If anything “stupid” happens in this fight there are going to be alot of really pissed off fans so they need to call this one fair. I also hope the ref is on point, whoever it might be. I just want to see a great fight and may the best man win, without any of the usual boxing bullshit. GO GET HIM COTTO!!!!, WE BELIEVE BABY WE BELIVEVE!!

  2. An upset is always fun to see, but I’m highly doubtful it will happen in this fight. Not taking anything away from Cotto he’s a great fighter but Mayweather will play it safe to take a UD.
