How would you feel if you had to find out some thing thru some one else because that other person didn’t come to you first? Well, that’s what happened to Paul Williams’ promoter Dan Goossen, he though his fighter will be facing Kelly Pavlik on October 3 until yesterday when Top Rank sent out a press release stating the fight between WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (35-1, 31 KOs) and WBO interim jr middleweight champ Paul “The Punisher” Williams (37-1, 27 KOs) has been postponed due to a Pavlik hand injury and the fight was reschedule for November 21 or December 5.
Shortly after the press release issued by Top Rank, Goossen Tutor Promotions released their own stating “that he was unaware the fight had even been postponed. If a release was sent stating that Pavlik was fighting November 21, I would be very interested in finding out who he’s fighting. As we’re all aware, we’ve just learned of Pavlik’s decision to cancel the press conference and thus the fight and we will evaluate where we go from here,” stated Dan Goossen in his email.
Kelly suffered an injury to the middle knuckle of his left hand while training, this will not be the first time Pavlik had problems with his hand. Kelly Pavlik was scheduled to collide against the champion of the reality TV show “The Contender”, Sergio Mora on June 27th and an ongoing staph infection on Pavlik’s hand failed to clear up and therefore the fight was cancelled. It makes you wonder if The Ghost of Youngstown, Ohio is getting cold feet to step in the ring with Paul Williams. The fight is definently in Jeopardy and personally I think it is not going to happen. What’s your opinion?
Pavlick has to start using http://www.AthleticbodyCare.com products to prevent staph infection! Enough already!
Most of the time it’s not the fighters but the management that sits down and says wait, we can’t beat this guy so we will tell our fighter his injury is worse than it is and pull out. The mental state of a fighter is so important that the handlers never want them to feel like they pussed out. Blame it on Lowe and Arum in my estimate.
THE FIGHT TITLED PAUL “THE PUNISHER” WILLIAMS VS. KELLY “P***Y” PAVLIK. I GUESS I WOULD BE SCARED TOO! HA HA.
Lets wait and see, what kind of game he is really playing, Pavlik.
I’m quite surprise what he’s trying too do. Maybe he doesn’t want too fight Williams at all, wouldn’t blame him because he would get whipped.
Or he’s seeing his own ghost.
You will think with all the money these boxers are making, they will be able to pay a doctor to fix this health problems.
I ALWAYS THOUGHT PAVLIK WAS WEAK. KNOW THAT HE HAS A CHANCE TO FIGHT REALLY GOOD FIGHTERS HE P****S OUT. HIS KNICKNAME SHOULD BE P***Y PAVLIK. HA HA.
