Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley, Jr. kicked off their two-city, coast-to-coast media tour yesterday at The Beverly Hills Hotel to announce their June 9th fight which will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The undefeated Bradley from Palm Springs, Calif., will headline his first pay-per-view against today’s most recognized boxer in the world, Manny Pacquiao. An opportunity he got after signing up with Top Rank.

“This opportunity is something I dreamed of all my whole life, eighteen years of my career since I was an amateur to be in the position in a super-mega fight in with the best pound for pound in the game and probably the best fighter in the history of boxing by some peoples stand point but I’m ready for this challenge. I know it’s going to be hell in the ring with Manny Pacquiao,” stated Bradley. “I don’t have to say anything negative or bad about him, he’s a great person, he’s a great role model for the kids, I really like Manny Pacquiao in and outside of the ring and I think June 9th it’s my time. Manny Pacquiao has reigned for a very long time and I feel I’m a new face in boxing and I feel it’s going to be one heck of a challenge but I’m up for it and I’m capable of winning this fight.”

Being a huge underdog, the odds are against him including some media who believe he won’t last more than 5 rounds. Known for his “Accidental head butts”, it could be a long night for Pacquiao or it can be a remake of the Ricky Hatton outcome.

Pacquiao, the lone congressional representative from the Sarangani province in the Philippines, assured everyone this fight will be a war.

“Timothy Bradley is a strong fighter, he likes to fight toe to toe, he’s undefeated, there’s going to be a lot of boxing in the ring and we’re going to train hard, at least 10 weeks of training for this fight and I hope the same thing with Timothy Bradley who will train hard for this fight so we can give a good fight and we could entertain people especially to all the people who are going to watch the fight on June 9th and thank you to all the boxing fans,” Pacquiao told the media.

Pacquiao being the center of attention was in a good mood and joked around with his entourage and even took the camera away from Top Rank’s photographer and started to snap pictures of his opponent.

Next stop will be Madison Square Garden in New York with rumor of a special guest, Jeremy Lin, the new basketball phenomenon. Pacquiao is a basketball fiend. He owns a basketball team and plays with them wearing a number 17 jersey- the same as Lin.

Tickets will go on sale this Friday, February 24 at 1pm and are price at $1,200 to $200.

  2. I live in the Palm Springs area, I moved here about 3 years ago from Los Angeles and when I got here one of the first names of a local boxer I heard was Bradley from a couple of people. He does have fans here but the general response when I mention his name is either they don’t know him or they don’t care for him. This has certainly changed since the news broke of the fight with Manny, everybody claims to know him now. He’s got a good head on his shoulders (no pun intended) as a person he’s great however I don’t care for his fighting style or him as a boxer period. I can’t get behind him because he’s sloppy and dangerous with the headbutts, I don’t see blinding speed or great power. The one thing I do admire is his self belief and determination, but I do see this going the way of the Hatton fight, which is certainly something Pacquiao can use after his last few performances. Good luck to Tim but I give him little chance to pull of a victory over Pacquiao, if he had fought Khan and won I’d give him a better chance but that fight didn’t happen and we know why.
