In an exclusive interview hosted by Univision, Oscar De la Hoya admitted of considering suicide and abusing cocaine and alcohol and of cheating on his wife.

“Within a couple of years, just thinking if my life was even worth it. I don’t have the strength, I don’t have the courage to take my own life but I was thinking about it,” he told the Spanish network.
“There were drugs, my drug of choice was cocaine and alcohol. Cocaine was recent. The last 2 years, last 2-and-a-half years and I depended more on the alcohol than the cocaine.”
Oscar De La Hoya checked himself into a $77,000 a month treatment facility in Malibu, California, in May. The 37 year-old “Golden Boy” retired in 2009 when he quit on the stool against Manny Pacquiao.
The former champion said he was unfaithful to his wife and that they were separated for a while – but that his infidelity never reached that of a certain golfer.
“We are obviously not talking a Tiger Woods here but I was unfaithful,” De La Hoya said.
De La Hoya is currently out of rehab and has been around the media trying to promote his upcoming fight between Victor Ortiz vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. scheduled for Sept 17 at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas.
