Former World Champion Erik “Terrible” Morales will face British champion Anthony Crolla (28-2, 19 KOs) in Las Vegas on September 17 on the card featuring Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Victor Ortiz from the MGM Grand.
Trainer and father, Jose “Olivaritos” Morales said his son will be going for the knockout.
“My son’s preparation will be just as strong as or even stronger than it was for his fight against Marcos Maidana,” stated Jose. Team Morales is currently training in Otomi Ceremonial Center.
“The preparation in the Otimi, you know, is the strongest because there are no distractions and we can make the right kind of training. Erik must fight smart and win conductively. Our concern is the judges, because in his fight with Maidana they weren’t fair with him,” added Mr. Morales.
One source reports that the fight could be an opportunity for Morales to add to his legendary career and fight for a world title in a fourth weight division. The scenario would unfold if the WBC super lightweight belt, currently held by Timothy Bradley, is vacated.
