Nikolay doesn’t want to box him

There have been rumors circulating the internet about a potential fight between WBA heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev and Evander Holyfield in Germany in December. However, whether the fight will happen is not certain at all (just like the location and the date). The Russian Giant will make a voluntary title defense before the end of the year. Holyfield as an opponent is just one of several options.

Fightnews recently received a statement from Boris Dimitrov, Nikolay’s manager:

“In connection with widespread rumors around the web, especially in Russia and America, I wish to issue a following statement through your respective portal. I, Valuev’s manager Boris Dimitrov, and Nikolay himself got info about a possible fight between him and Evander Holyfield yesterday. We got it from Nikolay’s co-promoter Don King. Mr. King asked me, “Boris, do you know something about that [Valuev-Holyfield rumors]? Have you heard Niko would fight Holyfield next?” I answered that it was the first time I had heard [such rumors]. King has replied to me that he also knew nothing about them before”

Nikolay’s manager continues by saying “Nikolay doesn’t want to box him. That will be ridiculous!” It sounds to me that the 7 footer is being a pussy cat, Evander Holyfield is willing to fight and Nikolai Valuev is looking for his next opponent so… what’s the problem. I think the Russian Giant is a bully and is not willing to fight some one his own size. I guess it is true the bigger they are the harder they fall.
