My thoughts on Mosley-Mora PPV

“Sugar” Shane Mosley (46-6, 39 KOs) will fight Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora (22-1-1, 6 Kos).

This may not be the most intriguing fight available from the several rumored for Sugar Shane but it is not terrible. Maybe I’ll catch it on HBO if I’m around but I wouldn’t go out of my way to see this fight.

Wait. This proposed fight is going to be pay-per-view? Unless there is a co-main event or a stacked undercard, I’ll read about the result and wait a week to see it replayed on HBO. Mora is a great fighter, but not PPV worthy. Sugar is still a PPV worthy fighter, even after being dominated by Floyd Mayweather. Mosley-Mora is not a PPV worthy fight.

I was upset when I heard Marquez-Diaz II was PPV, especially after watching Paulie Malignaggi dominate Diaz twice. The rematch can’t promise the sparks the first fight produced. The undercard is incredible, making the entire card commendable for PPV.

Mosley-Mora is no Marquez-Diaz II. Unless the undercard is talent saturated, I cannot imagine how this fight will do very well. Yes, there is a lot of history with both fighters and the Los Angeles and the Staples Center, the arena in which the proposed fight is expected to take place.

Come back with a great undercard or a great co-main event and maybe I’ll consider buying this fight.

  1. I don’t care. I’m watching because I’m a boxing fan. Eastlake Tavern, here I come. No way I’m paying the PPV fee…

  2. I am Mexican also and agree with the above, Mexicans do not rally behind Mora!
    Why?
Because Sergio The Latin Fake Mora IS A TERD FLOATING IN THE POOL OG BOXING!!!
And yes, Mosley is more Mexican than Mora, we have made Mosley an honorary Mexican in Los Angeles! LOL

  3. YO rob, MAN!!.. U JUST MURDER THE LATIN FAKE..IM A BIG MEXICAN BOXER FAN AND YESSSSR I AGREE WITH U ABOUT MORA TRYING TO FIGHT UNDER THE MEXICAN FLAG, BUT U KNOW WHAT? MEXICAN FANS WOULD NEVER SUPPORT THAT FAKE BORING FIGHTER, YES I ALLWAYS SAID THAT TOO MAN!!!. PPV MY ASS…..HAHAHA. THATS FUNNY MOSLEY MORE MEXICAN THEN MORA…LOL.

  4. This fight is utter garbage!
Do you really think that anyone will pay to see Mora fight aside his mother and girlfriend?
I have nothing against Mosley, if he wants to keep on fighting, then go for it!
But come on Mora? Really? Shane you’re going to fight the Latin Fake on PPV?
No way Im going to dish out 50 bucks to see Mosley fight an overated fighter whos claim to fame is winning a reality show 3 years ago!
    Terrible fight!
Oh and Mora stop trying to rally under the flag of being Mexican, you dont fight like a Mexican fighter, Mosley is more Mexican then you will ever be!

  5. i think mosley got this. his inactivity in the ring cost him the floyd fight well that and floyd being smart. i go for mosley on this one. mora is a great fighter but hasnt prooved anything

  6. EZ, how about the Mosley that fought Cotto ?? That Mosely was bad ass !! Although he officially lost to Cotto, he gave Cotto all he could handle and then some…

  7. KO?? hmmm…. I believe that Mosley will win but not sure about the KO, although I haven’t forgotten the Margarito fight by no means. BUT… we must admit that Mora IS definitely a better defensive fighter than Margarito and can decide to last the limit if need be. The big question is this: Does the Mosley that defeated Margarito… ahhhh… still exsist??? Think about it.

  8. JESUS Count out Mosley?? No, NO WAY!! I agree. Mosley will not be entering the ring with a 1 1/2 years of inactivity nor will he be facing an amazing quick and reflexed defensive wizzard as is Floyd. If I were forced to pick a winner in this one… it would be a bit difficult not to go with Shane, no matter how bad and tired he looked his last time out. If he has at least ONE good fight in him… this will probably be THEE ONE. If not then things might get a bit difficult, win or lose.

How much does Shane actually have left?? And.. how GOOD or BAD has the virtually inactive Mora become in the last two years, since the 2nd Forrest fight, when he showed little desire to retain his title?? His recent win over a fighter of a Calvin Green caliber fighter didn’t tell us much, if anything at all.

  9. I wouldn’t count Mosely out just yet. I don’t think he’s broke. He still works for Golden Boy Promotions. Yeah he lost to Mayweather, but so has everybody else who’s fought him. This is actually an interesting fight. I agree with rob on Alexander vs.Bradley on the undercard.

  10. Edgar It’s possible that “The Latin Snake’s” reach and size dimensions can aide him in this one especially since it’s no secret that Shane has had his share of problems against larger fighters that use their jab and size and some mobility to a degree of success. But… I don’t know exactly what to expect from Mora even if this is his GOLDEN opportunity. Will he surprise us? Well… to do so he’ll have to be BEST version Mora that Mora can possibly give of himself.

  11. first of all shane mosley should just retired, taking this fight really means that he needs the money, he did what he had too do in boxing. he came up short in the mayweather fight cause of his age nothing else. on the other hand oscar de la hoya could of kept going but he didnt after the manny fight cause age caught up with him. Ok now, sergio mora, he couldnt beat an old hirt vernon forest.. RiP…he needs to start KOing good young cats to make some noise and so he can start making a name a real name for himself.
