We’re hours away before two gladiators step into the ring and start trading punches.
Maybe it will indeed turn out to be just that straight forward, but there are subplots and there could be twists and turns in the storyline before the book is closed on the welterweight fight that just might live up to its “Dream Match” billing.

De La Hoya has the physical advantages but Pacquiao looks astonishingly strong. This might not be a case of a former middleweight and junior middleweight champion bullying a lightweight champion who was a 130-pounder just nine months ago. Pacquiao looks as if he is eminently capable of bringing his now familiar firepower and fierce aggression into the fight.
Â
It makes you wonder if De La Hoya might be a little weight-drained getting down to 147 pounds for the first time in more than seven years but I am not sure that this will be an issue. I just hope the Golden Boy doesn’t back-pedal like he has done in the past. No question, Pacquiao has the speed advantage but once again I am not at all sure that Pacquiao will have De La Hoya bothered and bewildered simply by being the faster man. To be effective, Pacquiao is going to have to be quick enough to attack, score, and slip away without being caught on the way in or on the way out, which is not easy to do against an expert marksman such as De La Hoya.
Â
De La Hoya, though, can definitely put Pacquiao in a lot of trouble if he can nail him. I think that Pacquiao is going to be very competitive early, and I would be little short of astounded if he got stopped in the early rounds. Gradually, though, I believe that De La Hoya’s jab, the hooks, the sheer weight of his punches to body and head, will wear Pacquiao down. After a fast-paced exciting first seven or eight rounds, I think that De La Hoya will start to dominate proceedings and overpower Pacquiao with a barrage of punches in or around the 10th round. I am expecting a tremendous, big-hearted fight from Pacquiao – it’s just that I don’t think it will be enough.

Deep down in my evil side I hope De La Hoya wins in revenge of the Pacman beating up my boy Erik Morales. What’s your prediction? BTW this are today’s weight in results Oscar de la Hoya 145 vs Manny Pacquiao 142

i was really disappointed with the outcome of the game between the two. Though it was a good thing that my fellow filipino (pacman) won. But the fight wasnt what i expected… I know many will agree with me.
Lots of people predicted golden boy victory. Too bad they lost – convincingly. It was a big upset.
Cheers to Manny! Up next, Hatton & Mayweather.
Well Pacquiao weight in @ 142 and Oscar at 145,, geez I really don’t know, I have mixed emotions here, I like how Pacquiao fights, great style, but yes he beat up my favorite boxer live in my face : 0 (, twice! and other great Mexican fighters, so one part of me wants to see Pacman in the Canvas, in the other hand I Do like De la Hoya, but I remember how he beat up and disrespect Chavez and how he is ducking Margarito, so I also want to see him in the canvas.
I lke both guys at the end but I have to go with PacMan, he is the underdog and he also needs as much support as possible because it is going to a huge task to beat Oscar, you can say he is old and slower, but we have to be realistic, he is a very good boxer, has tons of experience and he is the bigger guy physically.
So at the end, let the best man win!
