Darchinyan leaves IBF title for grabs

The IBF recently ordered Vic Darchinyan to face mandatory challenger Simphiwe Nongqayi of South Africa. Darchinyan has no interested of fighting him so he vacates the IBF super flyweight title.  Vic Darchinyan currently holds the WBA and WBC straps. Rumor is that Jorge Arce might fill Darchinyan’s position and fight Nongqayi for the title.

Should the “Fire Power” be for a title?

Manny Pacquiao’s laywer is insisting that the”Fire Power” showdown against Puerto Rican superstar Miguel Cotto on November 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas be for Cotto’s welterweight title. President of Top Rank Bob Arum earlier was quoted as saying that the Pacquiao-Cotto fight would not be for the WBO belt because neither boxer wants to pay the WBO sanctioning fees. Valcarcel, president of the WBO, told Arum that the sanction fee Pacquiao would have to pay amounts to $150,000, no word on how much Cotto’s fees will be.

Rumors are that its Pacquiao’s team are demanding for a title fight because if Pacquiao wins he will be the greatest fighter of all time with seven world titles, which personally I too agree it should be for a title.
