Fernando “Cochulito” Montiel, WBO bantamweight champion, is assured two defenses of his crown, against the Filipino Ciso Morales and then against another Filipino Gerry Peñalosa or the boricua Eric Morel.
Montiel will defend his title on February 13th at the Las Vegas Hilton against Ciso Morales in a fight card where Gerry Peñalosa will face Eric Morel for the interim bantamweight WBO title. The winner of this bout will go against Montiel.
Also on the February 13th fight card, Nonito Donaire will defend his WBA super flyweight title.
“Cochulito”, one of only a few Mexican fighters who have captured three titles in three diferent division, was also the flyweight and super flyweight champion and holds a record of 39-2-2, 29KO while Ciso Morales is undefeated with a ledger of 14-0, 8KO.
Gerry Peñalosa holds a record of 54-7-2, 34KO while Morel holds one of 41-2, 21KO.
