It is hard to understand why Fernando “Cochulito” Montielhas not received the accolades as one of the best champions that Mexican boxing has given. With his victories and three titles, he has displayed talent and quality.
Montiel is one of the few Mexican fighters to have won three different titles in as many divisions and is considered one of the best in his division. His boxing technique is nearly perfect and his new style as an aggressor is devastating.
On March 28th of last year in Tijuana, MX, Montiel captured his third title when he destroyed in three rounds Diego Silva of Argentina to conquer the bantamweight WBO title.
“I have been looking for big fights for some time now but they have not happened,” Montiel stated. “Now I hope in a new division and as a champion I will be able to get those fights that I want.”
Montiel is a very good fighter. I sincerely believe he would be an excellent match versus Nonito Donaire Jr.
