For those who follow me on Facebook know I was in Vegas this weekend partying like a freakin’ rock star and because it was NASCAR weekend, everything was jam packed. It was insane and because of that, I don’t think I could handle another weekend in Las Vegas so I will be missing Saturday’s, March 12, fight between Miguel Cotto and Ricardo Mayorga.

Here is my thought about this fight, if the fight passes 4 rounds, Miguel Cotto will win. Mayorga is going to get tired and he’s only going to go for the home run hit which you can’t count him out for. Mayorga hits HARD! Shane Mosley, Fernando Vargas, Vernon Forest and Felix Trinidad have all said he hits hard. I honestly think Mayorga’s powerful over hand right can knock Cotto out but I don’t think Cotto will brawl with him. Emmanuel Steward won’t allow him.

Steward has said, “You have to be ready to box and not allow him to be a bully. The key is to fight short and throw accurate punches, I don’t think it will be a boring fight, we expect a high-action fight.”

I too agree with Cotto’s trainer, this is the only way to beat Mayorga. It’s going to be exciting no doubt about that. Show time will broadcast the live weigh-in and interview the fighters from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Friday, March 11 at 6 p.m.

So I will be forking out $49.99 this Saturday and another reason I am staying home is so I could see the Sergio Martinez fight which is on the same day.

If you’re not following me on Facebook, make sure you do.

  1. This one will be interesting for maybe 3 rounds or so, and the it will be all Cotto, kinda like what happen to Cotto with Pacquiao, only Cotto will be the one inflicting mayor pain on Mayorga!

Yeah Cotto might not be the same he was before Margarito, but who do people think Mayorga is at this stage in his career?
he has lost every mayor fight since Forest, he is 37 years old and never really had skills like Cotto did and still has.

Only thing good Mayorga has is it actually looks like he is training, but none can turn back time and add skills to an old fighter that has been out of the ring for a while.

Damage goods or not, I have Cotto by TKO mid-late in the fight, but I got to give it to Mayorga, he can talk some trash lol

  2. Mayorga is ALL talk. Cotto will talk louder with his punches. Cotto will beat the nicotine out of Mayorga’s lungs and make them clean again…

  3. I’m with you guys, Cotto will win this. The only way I see mayorga winning this fight is if he lands the luckyest of all punches. Cottos going to knock his block off.I’m for Cotto all the way.

  4. Mayorga is tough and can hit but Cotto has better skills and packs a bit of a punch himself. Cotto will K.O. Mayorga by the 8th round tops.

  5. this is just a warm up for cotto. mayorga is tuff but cotto is cotto. people talk about cotto being knocked out since he fought mosley. till this day he prooves to have a very strong chin. short fight long fight no matter what cotto by k’o to the left rib cage. 6th or 7th round thats my pick
