Grzegorz Proksa

October 1st was a very exciting night for middleweight action. Andy Lee defeated Brian Vera in a very entertaining bout. Sergio Martinez beat a very game Darren Barker. Over in Germany, Grzegorz Proksa utterly dominated Sebastian Sylvester, the former IBF middleweight champion. Everyone, including myself is very high off of Sergio Martinez, but when you are a ready to see another exciting middleweight, Grzegorz Proksa.

Proksa, 26-0 with 19 KO’s is a small middleweight, like Martinez who fights with a very exciting manor. Proksa, who has not fought in the United States since being on the undercard of the Pacquaio’s TKO 10 of Morales. He has fought mainly in the United Kingdom and Germany since.

This rising fighter is a star in Europe and must be marketed in the United States. He is exciting, a high-volume puncher who uses a few odd techniques to create entertaining rounds. His only flaw is that he has not fought too much great competition. Proksa has been matched well and did destroy Sylvester, who is a very legitimate fighter. The one question is can Proksa fight a 12 round distance? He has only fought to 10 once, and got a 9 round KO. Every other fight has lasted 7 rounds or less.

If and when he is brought over to the United States (again), we will see if he can out box some of the top middleweights here. He is good, but does have some unconventional habits. A great fight would be against Andy Lee or Matthew Macklin. Both would be HBO friendly if they approve Proksa. Check out Grzegorz Proksa fight against Sylvester
