Another fight that I am looking forward to this weekend is between Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero and Michael Katsidis which is taking place on the undercard of Erik Morales vs Marcos Maidana this Saturday, April 09, on HBO pay-per-view.

Both the WBO and WBA interim lightweight titles will be on the line but then again who really cares about interim titles, that’s a whole article on its own. I am curious to see how Guerrero is planning to defeat Katsidis.

Katsidis (27-3, 22 KOs) is coming off of a confrontation with Juan Manuel Marquez where Katsidis knocked down the Mexican warrior with a precision counter punch that left me speechless but of course Marquez beat the count and eventually won by knockout. Without a doubt, this should have been the fight of the year with its back and forth action.

Guerrero is a good fighter and could still be a threat but it is hard to convince the casual fan as many don’t know who Guerrero is. If Guerrero is able to keep up with Katsidis, it’s going to be a long night.

Yesterday during their final press conference, Michael Katsidis was in a great mood as he dressed up like a surfer dude high on drugs. Spitting out pumpkin seeds around the media room, I am happy to see him back to normal. It’s hard to forget the tragedy he went thru after his older brother was found dead in his Australia home a few months ago.

Katsidis is definitely going give his fans their money’s worth so you better not blink.

Who are you going for?

  1. It’s a tough one for me as I like both these guys. I don’t care which fighter wins because it’s going to be a great fight simply cause Katsidis is in it and he always brings it. If I had to pick i’d probably take the safer bet on Guerrero.
