Friday, February 18th, marks the return of southpaw Mercito “No Mercy” Gesta (20-0-1, 10KOs) to the squared circle when he takes on Genaro Trazancos (22-13-1, 13KOs) on Telefura’s “Solo Boxeo Tecate” from San Francisco, CA’s Longshormen’s Hall, near the world famous Fisherman’s Wharf. Billed as the “War at the Wharf”, the mutli-bout card will be presented by Golden Boy Promotions with Don Chargin Promotions in association with Jorge Marron Productions.

Gesta and Trazancos are no strangers to each other as “No Mercy” stopped the tough journey man from Mexico City in seven rounds last August on another edition of “Solo Boxeo Tecate”. Gesta of San Diego, CA, by way of Cebu, Philippines, carried the thirty-six veteran until he scored with a straight left that sent Trazancos down for the count. Despite Trazancos going almost the distance, Gesta was hoping for a tougher fight for his first performance of 2011.

“We wanted to fight Hector Velazquez but he backed out of the fight I was told by my promoter Don Chargin,” Gesta stated from the Wild Card gym in Los Angeles where he is training. “Trazancos is tough and strong and most of all brave enough to fight me again when others wouldn’t.”

Chargin did not fail to inform Gesta that bigger and better things are to come such a big name fight under the Golden Boy Promotions banner once Gesta comes out unscathed from this assignment.

“My time is coming, I’m well into training camp here at the Wild Card gym,” Gesta said confidently. “I am working with my co-manager/trainer Vince Parra and coach Freddie Roach is helping us too. I’m focused and ready to fight.”
