Filipino lightweight sensation Mercito “No Mercy” Gesta (16-0-1, 7KO) returns to the ring after a short hiatus as he faces tough journeyman Jaime Orrantia (12-26-5, 4KO) of Lakeside, CA, on Thursday, February 25th at the Four Points Sheraton in San Diego,CA.

“I’m excited. It’s been a long time since I fought,” the 22-year-old said. “I am ready to do what I have been doing before, get in and get out, but with out under estimating my opponent.”

In his last fight in July of ’09, the Don Chargin promoted Gesta stopped Devarise Crayton in three rounds and two months earlier, he stopped the 2008 Tijuana Fighter of the Year, Alain “Konan” Hernandez, in fourty-four seconds. Gesta has stopped four out of his last five opponents.

The quick fisted, undefeated Gesta of San Diego by way of Cebu, Philippines, finds himself at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, CA, along with his trainer Karl Penalosa preparing for his upcoming appointment among the Manny Pacquiao circus.

“I am doing good, I’m back again with my coach who was back home for vacation,” Gesta states. “Sparring is better up here. It’s a little crazy with all the people here for Manny but I still get my training.”

His opponent Jaime Orrantia, a 44-fight veteran, has traded leather against the likes of Jorge Paez Jr., Nick Casal and Marcos Licona.

“I don’t know much about him but I am training hard and ready to do my thing,” Gesta added.

“We want to keep Mercito busy this year. He has been in the gym all this time and he ready to shine,” Vince Parra, Gesta’s manager stated. “We want three fights this year, with the last one being a title fight at 135 lbs.”
