It may not have been formally announced yet, but it looks as though Floyd Mayweather Jr will fight twice in 2013 – both times in Las Vegas.
Mayweather will have turned 36 before the first fight, but the American welterweight world champion will not be fazed at the prospect of fighting two bouts within just over four months – already booked by his promotions team for two Mexican holiday weekends in May and September.
The first of these will mark a year since his last fight – when he saw off Miguel Cotto on points to win the WBA light-middleweight title – but according to his adviser Leonard Ellerbe, Mayweather remains confident.
“[Floyd] is…looking to come back in two gigantic fights in 2013 and continue to show why he is the best in boxing.”
Who the opponents are in either fight has yet to be confirmed, but it’s widely reported that the first of them – to face Mayweather in Las Vegas, Money’s city of residence and location of his last six fights – will be Robert Guerrero.
At 29 years of age, ‘The Ghost’ Guerrero has built an impressive career; having only lost one fight in 2006 the American of Mexican descent is looking forward to the challenge, after calling out Mayweather following his defense of the interim WBC Welterweight title.
“I want to fight the best. I’m looking for Floyd Mayweather next. Pretty Boy, let’s do it!” he remarked to a ringside reporter.
As Mayweather prepares for a seventh and eighth straight fight in Las Vegas, fans will be eagerly booking travel plans, hoping to see the sights of Sin City as well as taking in the exclusive fight. Anyone who’s hoping to stake their own claim on the kinds of fortune raked in by Mayweather per fight could do worse than checking out the casinos on offer. casino.ladbrokes.com has plenty of gaming opportunities online for anyone who fancies a bit of practice before they jet off to hit the slots.
The first of Mayweather’s big fights, against Robert Guerrero, is expected to happen at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, on Saturday 4th May, but again it has not been confirm.
The only way this fight will sale it’s to put a other good fight on the under card !!!
