World Boxing Association (WBA) NABA welterweight champion, Thomas Dulorme (13-0, 10 KOs), wrapped up training camp and will travel to the United States after sparring with WBA welterweight champion, Marcos “El Chino” Maidana (31-2, 28 KOs). The two trained together at Dulorme’s boxing gym in his hometown of Carolina, Puerto Rico.
The heated sparring session went six hard rounds and demonstrated the talent of both fighters at their highest level, as neither gave into attack.
Dulorme, promoted by Gary Shaw Productions, Universal Promotions and DiBella Entertainment went on to say, “The experience was very good. Maidana and his team treated us very well. The sparring was very good for me, as “El Chino” is an excellent boxer and world champion. Sparring with someone who has this type of experience helps me improve my craft. With him you cannot divert because he hits very hard.”
“I had the opportunity to spar with Dulorme and I can say he is a great fighter,” said Maidana the WBA world champion at 140 pounds. “He is very fast and has all the talent to be a great world champion. He will go very far.”
Maidana usually travels to Puerto Rico for all training camps in preparation for all his world title defenses. He comes to the Island to work with conditioning specialist “Pensa” Garcia.
After the sparring ended, both fighters agreed to work together as they could help each other because of their different styles.
Dulorme, a native Carolina continued, “Both our teams got along very well and if Maidana still gives me the opportunity to continue training with him, I will always go.”
Thomas Dulorme will use this experience in his favor as he goes up against the experienced Aris Ambriz (16-2-1, 8 KOs) next Friday, February 17 on a card presented by Gary Shaw Productions and televised by Showtime’s boxing series ShoBox: The New Generation. This card comes to life at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California.
The co-feature showcases undefeated 154-pound puncher, his compatriot Jonathan “Mantequilla” Gonzalez (14-0, 13 KOs), who battles global contender Billy Lyell (24-10, 5KOs), in a 10 round fight. Lyell has fought world class fighters such as Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and James Kirkland.
Both Dulorme and Gonzalez were recently selected by ESPN as part of the prestigious “Super25” group, which features the top boxing prospects in the world.
EZE are you in PR let conect ourself to talk!, me and my friends are super boxing fans and we can talk about this and many fights and learn from each other. I use to train with Boni too in Carolina just let me know. Here you can have a realy good friend !!!
I know Dulorme (or ¨Junior¨as we call him) personally and he has great potential. Being a frequet visitor to the Carolina Gym, operated by my friend Jose ¨Bony¨ Bonilla, a great and very under rated trainer, surely one of Puerto Rico´s finest. I´m expecting good/great things from Dulorme BUT… it al depends on how well he matures. He has the dedication, that I persoanally can vouch for, but what is still unknown is if he will continue to progress. Many others have commenced their careers on a high note but reach their peak prematurely (¨peak out¨) and just don´t have the necessary overall talent to make it to the A-Level. A fighter can be super dedicated but he also has to have a combination of talent, ability, ring smarts, mind set, handle adversity… to reach the upper etchelon of their respective divisions. Time will tell.
Yes but, he still a good fighter he almost end Cotto in the early rounds. Thanks for your respect to the others opinion, and you are right dulorme is a fighter that every body have to keep an eye on his carrer
@ Angel, Idk if you are aware how badly Corley has faded since his fight with Mayweather. So Idk about that comparison. However your boy Dulorme is somebody to keep an eye on but I wouldn’t jump to him running the WW division anytime soon. That being said I hope Maidana whoops Alexander.
Thomas Dulorme is the future of the boxing !!!!!! Paquiau, mayweather, Canelo , cotto , Kan, every one in 147, 154 run before Junito Dulorme catch any of you he is the best !!!! Just take a look how easy he win Corley and later take a look to mayweather vs Corley fight and let the people judge it !!!!! He’s trainer Bonilla is doing realy good job just let him fight the big names he’s ready fisicaly and mentaly just let him fight . And give the people what we want !!! New names, new blood not the same names for 5 or 6 more years !!!,!
