Like Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera is in the hunt for a fourth world title. Rumor was Barrera was going to face Humberto Soto for his 135 WBC title but now is taking on the man who defeated and ended Erik Morales’ career before retiring in 2007, David Diaz. The “Baby Faced Assassin” will collide with former WBC lightweight champ David Diaz on September 15, four days after Erik Morales takes on Willie Limond.
The fight is scheduled to take place in Mexico. Diaz won 3 of his last 5 fights before losing to Humberto Soto earlier this year and not to mention, his brutal loss against Manny Pacquiao.
Adailton De Jesus was Barrera’s first opponent since losing a five-round technical decision to present WBA junior welterweight (140 pounds) champion Amir Khan in 2009.
A victory over Diaz will guarantee Barrera a title shot but first we have to wait and see if he can do what Morales couldn’t do and that’s beat David Diaz.
el ex campeon mundial ligero david diaz le va a ganar a Barrera y lo va a retirar como hizo con el ‘Terrible’el publico de Chicago esta con el
Win, loose, or draw, this shouild be Barrera’s last fight. I don’t think he can win a major title at 135 or 140 lbs.
this should be good too. I still think Morales beat Diaz.
