Also, in boxing news the WBC super welterweight world championship held by Manny Pacquiao is being declared vacant, following the unanimous voting of the WBC Board of Governors, due to the inability of the champion to defend his WBC title. The clause in which the WBC is basing its decision is rule 1.25. The official challenger to fight for the vacant title is Raul “Canelo” Alvarez, by his holding the WBC superwelterweight world Silver championship, which the rules have as the automatic challenger for the undisputed WBC title. The contenders to fight for the vacant title will be decided by a voting of the Board in the WBC.
